Has anyone heard the rumor that Willie Pitchford is writing a book about his life with Mary Wilson as his mom and being on the road with the Supremes ?
Has anyone heard the rumor that Willie Pitchford is writing a book about his life with Mary Wilson as his mom and being on the road with the Supremes ?
I haven't, but SD really is the only place where I get Supremes news. I sure hope the rumor is true. Been quite some time since we last got any Supremes inside stories. Plus, I don't think we really know Mary Wilson at home and with family, so if this is true, hopefully it'll be new insight into her life.
Of course I hope the book isn't a bunch of stories about how Mary made him sleep on the floor, flirted with his boyfriend, or accused him of eating slowly just to make her look bad.
Probably. Lol
I haven't seen that movie since the 90s I think. Besides the wire coat hanger scene, the only other scene that I vividly recall is Joan taking over her daughter's role on the soap opera. When the actress playing Joan turned around [[is it Faye Dunaway?) and was playing someone 20 something years old looking 50 something, I almost peed on myself laughing.
I have seen on Facebook that he is writing a book. I read it in posts by the person who is friends with him on Facebook. The same person is the one who says he is writing the definitive book on the Supremes' gowns and that Mary's book was all inaccurate and that he knows all about all of the gowns. Apparently, some fans call themselves "gownies"? He is Facebook friends with Willie, Florence's daughters and other celebrities, so I really don't know what is truth and what is PR?
Thanks everyone - perhaps that is how I read or heard it. I would welcome a book from Willie since he was there along the way and may have saw things from a little different lens.
is this bluebrock??
If this is the guy named Stephen I had to block him several years ago. He kept questioning me about the girls wardrobe which I only have a passing interest in. He had given names to some of the early stage gowns that I know had no names. Then he tried to convince me that he was a high priced escort, like I'd care. But it was when Cindy's plight first started leaking out many years ago that he made a heinous post on Facebook blaming Mary for everything because of the 1976 termination. That was it for me, I blocked him. He obviously has a loose pebble on his beach.
no bluebrock is a totally different person. Blue was [[i think) a producer or worked in production. I don't know exactly all of the different titles and job descriptions. he worked quite a bit with Diana during the 90s. wonderful stories. he's not trying to leverage his association with her for his own gain or anything. a great fan and a very nice person. I do remember some family issues and just life things taking up a lot of his time so i'd guess he's simply been elsewhere. and that's why he's not posted.
Right, but I don't think we can entirely pretend that there aren't people who like to make claims simply for the attention. At one point, he claimed to have been witness to Ms Ross 'breaking wind' in her dressing room. This also comes from the same person who said she was going to be recording an album with London's Royal Philharmonic during her UK tour in the summer of 2022, for a December 2022 release. When it didn't happen, the story changed and 'the recording would possibly occur some other time, due to Diana being ill'.
It's cool if you guys want to believe everything you read on the internet from those claiming to be an insider, but I take it all with a grain of salt. As Whitney once said, "Show me the receipts!"

Bluebrock is a friend of mine and hes a kind and decent man who doesnt have a mean bone in his body. He is also a man of strong faith which he has leaned on over the years to get him through some terribly tough times. Diana Ross was there for him during those tough times. Bluebrock worked with and for Miss Diana Ross for decades. He was and may still be involved with aspects of her oversees work. Diana Ross was ill during the latter part of her UK tour abut forged on. How many times do we hear of albums being canceled or delayed. Its a real common occurance. Whitney Houston also said Crack is Whack when she was in the depth of crack cocaine addiction.
You don't know?? I thought you were good friends? Maybe you could ask him next time you're chatting ??He was and may still be involved with aspects of her oversees work
but SUGAR, what's stopping you from asking him?
It does seem a bit strange that he was able to come into the forum, make the claim that he worked with Diana and then have so many take his word as truth just because he said so, without any evidence. We don't even know his real name. Not that I need to know it. I defended his right to remain anonymous when someone kept hounding him for his name and even photographs to prove he is who he claimed to be. He might very well have worked with Diana in the capacity that he has claimed, but ultimately his word boils down to "internet claims", one voice among many.
i'm friends with him outside of Soulful Detroit. Everything is list clearly listed on his various social media pages. he's not just some anonymous troll on here posting under a pseudonym. he's listed out the EMI roles he served in. there are photos of him. so unless it some wildly grandiose sham, it's all true. Not sure about the fart but his time with EMI, his work with Diana, his association with these record companies and tv show producers
I think you're right BUTTERMILK , I better not hold my breath for that one to occur... although I'm ready any time you want to make it happen....it'd be a pleasure to join in and reminisce about the years and years, past and present, bluebrock has spent with Miss Ross,
something you, .....as a good friend......., seem to never ask him about.
back to the original topic
any more info on this supposed book? were willie and mary still close in later years? from what i remember in her book, there isn't much discussion of him after her marriage to Pedro ended. sounded like Willie and Pedro didn't get along [[no surprise) but she doesn't really go into what willie did with his life, was he happy and successful? i don't remember and more recent pics of them either.
so like Diana supposedly asked mary backstage prior to the DG book: "is it a good book or a bad book?"
I am not Facebook friends with Willie but he is Facebook Friends with the Queen of the "Gownies". The only time I read anything about a book by Willie was when Gownie Goddess was saying once again that they were writing a "true" book on the gowns that the Supremes wear. I looked at Willie's Facebook and don't see him announcing anything about his time with the Supremes. Who knows if he is contemplating a book and whether it would be good or bad. He posted a pic of Mary on his Facebook saying it was the last one he took of his Mother and how much he misses her. Nothing about a book or anything else.
If anything Cindy had started a book but that is definitely shelved, would rather have a book by Jean about her time singing or Lynda about the Supremes and working with Stevie and James Brown, Scherrie [[who is a playwright and songwriter) about replacing Jean, her time as a Supreme, her time with Glass House and RTL and Susaye Greene certainly must have stories about the Supremes, working with Ray Charles and Stevie. I don't think Willie is going to have a book. Much like the Gownie Glamour book or any other one we would like, just don't see it happening. After Mary and Diana's books and the Dreamgirls movie, don't see it happening.
I agree, RanRan. Some time ago, I ended up finding out his real name and I decided to ask someone else who I would consider to be 'in the know' [they shall remain nameless] if they had ever heard of him. They told me they had not. Not sure what to say about that. If someone wants their claims to be believed, then I feel the ownus is on them to provide some sort of proof. It should be an easy thing to do, without having to compromise their identity. For instance, I remember he had also claimed to have heard Diana's Thank You album, months before its release, but gave super generic teasers [ie. It has some upbeat urban-type songs]. I would have found it more believable if he had revealed some lyrics he heard and then they turned out to be actual lyrics. To come on here and write stuff like, "Oh Diana told me she hated that song" or "Diana recorded 9 extra songs for this album that went unreleased"...sorry, I'm not going to believe it. To expect us to believe such claims with zero proof and zero tolerance for questioning is a very cult-like mindset.

Remember Tonita LaTurners book? How she was SUCH GOOD JUDYS with Flo Ballard, and yet I've not once seen a single picture of them together.
EVERYBODY is BFF with the Supremes.
Back to the original subject; what exactly could Willie add that hasn't already been said? Love Mary Wilson, but by the time Willie got on the scene, Diana was waving her batwig in exit of the Supremes. And frankly, DREAMBOY: MY LIFE WITH MARY WILSON would only sell a few thousand [[hundred?) copies.
