Jean's family owned Terrell's and Terrell's II, hair salons. Several of her siblings had taken up barbering and hairdressing. In the early 80s, before joining the FLOs, Jean attended a class at a local Community College where she learned hair and cosmetics. Apparently they became pretty good at it. The Terrell's were much like the Gordy family, a large clan that stuck together and made good business decisions. About 20 years ago, Jean's family sold the businesses and retired.
The shop was in Inglewood, CA. A few fans would stop in to get an lp autographed and Jean was usually gracious about that. But she made it clear that she wanted no involvement with show business after the Mary Wilson lawsuit in 1994. Jean wanted nothing to do with the Supremes legacy after that.
