Here's an intriguing record on the same label as Bobby Eli's HIDDEN COST 45:

Marmaduke 002 NORMA AND THE HEARTACHES -
Hot Pants (Gonna Get You In Trouble/Hot Pants Dance

Recorded at Sigma Sound; produced, written, and arranged by Irv Jones and Morris Bailey.

Bobby (or anyone else), do you have any info about this one?

I remember Tom Moulton asking about it a while back on another list.

Thanks,

Jeff Lemlich

Jeff,

Norma and the Heartaches were a local bar band that played all the usual haunts in the mid to late sixties into the early seventies.
They are inactive now but I did run into Norma a few years ago when she just happened to live next door to a friend of mine. Marmaduke was a short lived label owned by the late Bernie Binnick and original owner of Swan records.
Morris Bailey was a local producer on the fringes of the Philly sound. He produced and arranged the rare unreleased "Stylistics" album after You're a big girl now and before the Thom Bell affilliation.
Avco records scrapped the project and it was not polished at all. Morris wrote and produced some songs with Leon Mitchell and had a production company with Bobby Martin early on. He is currently wheelchair bound due to a long incapacitating illness.
I had nothing to do with the Norma and the Heartaches record.

PS. The production company with Bobby Martin was Mardix and the publishing company jointly owned with Leon Mitchell was Sharsnock music.

Bobby,
Thanks for the info -- I knew you'd have the scoop!

I met Bernie Binnick in the early 80s, after he'd moved to South Florida and put out a few records here. His partner at the time had some of the Marmaduke label singles (including yours), so it all makes sense now!

Now if I could only watch Norma do that hot pants dance...

Another rare Marmaduke 45 was called of all things "Egg Foo Wa Wa" by The Race Street Chinatown Band. It was produced by Len Barry.
I am not sure whether it saw the light of day outside of the general Philly area.
I was the Wa Wa!!! I did not do any chinks, though.!!!
