graham finch introduced me to this amazing record recently.

does anyone else think it's a great sound?

does anyone have a label scan?

i will be in london tomorrow and must pose some questions on this amazing record.

i think r&b king, roger banks, must be taken to task!

does he or doesn't he own one of of the most intriguing records ever on the northern soul scene.

an dominating bass line takes us through the entire record.

graham finch tells me it was recorded at 'the new mystical recording co'.

however, what are the circumstances, is gwen aware of this record?

Has anyone been in contact with Gwen? I don't think I've ever seen a comprehensive Gwen Owens discography.

Jeff,

Tomorrow I'll post what info. I have on her records
- it's pretty basic - hopefully others can add
writer / producer credits where needed.

She is the Gwen Owens who was in Hot of "Angel
In Your Arms" fame, isn't she ???

I spoke to Gwen a few years ago - she lives in California now but her mother is still in Detroit and was helpful with Gwen's biography.
One thing I can't determine is if her "Mystery Man" on Oncore and "Mystery Of Love" on REM are the same recording - anyone know?
Yes, she was in Hot.
Cheers, Graham

Davie,
As Graham said, yes that was Gwen in Hot.

That album was done in Muscle Shoals with Terry Woodford, Clayton Ivey, Tippy Armstrong (of the Rubber Band on Columbia) and some of the FAME musicians.
Good, underrated southern soul, in my opinion.
