Welcome Blanche - I'm glad you're here. I sent a hug to your husband by 1wicket. But since you're closer to Billy, then I'll send it by you. Give Mr. Paul a "smooch, smack" and a "Big hug" for me.

Tell him I listen to his music over and over. I got his LP's, and then I got his CD's. He makes my heart palpitate tremendously with that voice of his. It was great seeing him on the show.

Please keep in touch with us.

Hi Blanche!
I sent you a shout out on the first thread but here is another one for good measure.
Welcome to our little enclave. Come back often and enjoy and please get Billy to come on and share some stories as I know everyone would just love to hear from him!!
Your friend,

Bobby Eli

Thanks for the welcome Vicki, Sis Detroit Bobby Eli and Stu.
At the moment, we are taking a breather and getting settled in our new home so I have the free time to stay in touch. But in this feast or famine business called show bidness, we get overwhelmed with work at times and naturally I won't be as availible.
Wicked please contact me off-post. We have some serious catching up to do. Thanks for turning us on to Soulful Detroit.

Blanche:
Welcome to Soulful Detroit. Like the others I've been a huge fan of Billy's music since I heard "Me & Mrs. Jones" on a cold, snowy early winter's day in December 1972. Billy was fantastic on "Rhythm Love & Soul".

Please let us know when he plans on touring and if he comes to NYC. I will be the first in line to get tickets!

Edwin Starr mentioned (dduring one of the breaks) doing "a couple other songs" before he went into SOS. Anyone know what else he did? "War", I assume, but how bout "Double O Soul"?
Must admit I was plesantly supprised to hear "SOS". The only other thing that would have shocked me more would have been the backround singers going "....Hey, hey, hey Scott Regan...."

Hi Kevin,
I will definitely let you know when Billy will be in your area. Sis Detriot, Billy will be in your area this summer on a show with the Manhattens. I am not sure if I am allowed to post that info on this forum, so if you contact me off-post I will give you the details.
Blanche

Please feel free to post any concert information on the forum. The many fans here will be grateful for the information.

Billy Paul and the Manhattans!!! What a great show. Please post the concert info...would love to see them.

SisDetroit,
The show with Billy Paul and the Manhattans will be Aug. 16th at the Millenium Theatre. It will be a benefit for the DABO organization which is headed by Rev. Horace L Sheffield. You will DEFINITELY get your hug that night.
Ralph are you the moderator of this forum? I am trying to get into the rhythm of SD. Boy, there are a LOT of different conversations going on with this site. I almost don't know where to begin. Any input will be apprecitated. If it is not appropriate to post that info here, please contact me off-line.
Thanks,
Blanche

Blanche,
You can go to the bottom of the topic page to create a new conversation. For example, you can call it BILLY PAUL IN CONCERT and then add in the message that he will be playing on Aug. 16th.

I think more people are on the forum now than ever. It's getting pretty big.

Blanche,
Yes, I am the moderator of the SD forum. We are all happy to see you here and hope you will become a regular contributor. I've often said it but it bears repeating...this place never fails to amaze me.

Top of pageBottom of page   By SisDetroit (68.42.209.170) on Tuesday, March 11, 2003 - 03:53 pm:

Blanche - Sometimes we just get out of wack with excitement, but Ralph or DMeikle pulls us back into reality. So, for the most part, it is relatively nice and informative on SD.

Any information on Billy Paul, and other interesting subjects will be greatly appreciated.

I've already marked my calendar.

Blanch,
I tried e-mailing you but the letter was returned.
Sis. And occasionally the forum pulls me back into reality.

The Temptations Revue featuring Dennis Edwards were excellent on Rhythm Love and Soul. I also enjoyed Aretha Franklin, and the Spinners with G.C.Cameron

1) Everyone is in tune. Slammin Series.

2) Manhattans, Billy Paul were on the money.

3) Who's playing bass during Aretha's segement (Freeway of Love)? Sounds like the cat's playing a Marcus Miller Jazz Bass, but I know he's not Marcus Miller.

4) I'm gonna have a heart attack of see another 60 year old look the way Freda Payne did. Stunning!!!!!!

Peace.

I had my sister tape it, because I don't have direct access. It was great the first, second, and third time...
