The difference being, at least here when I click to SD's Forum Site, I can see and choose from any topic. I can get a chance to post and interact and get at least an response. With Soul-Patrol I can't. It's like being on their form by one's self.

I just noticed this thread & I agree that this site is different from others, especially the forum part. So, being totally clueless about these things, what makes Soulful Detroit so unique in this regard. Is it the software? Money? Why is it that Soulful Detroits forum is so unique & distinctive from the others? I'm not referring to our luminaries such as Bobby E, Dennis Coffey, Russ, Ralph, etc. I'm talking about the feel of the site, the ease of use, as compared to the other dull sites. This place is a gem, just wondered why SD is so much better. I'm glad that it is :-)

Are you telling me that no one has an opinion regarding what differentiates this site from the others???? Sad!

Juice I love the site as well until I see that some of my posts didn't "take". I agree it is a user-friendly site and the people are great!

Well thank you Sister Nosey. I knew that I wasn't the only one who sees the difference in quality.

I never heard of "Soul Patrol". Is it a black police group?

By the way, Mr. Juice-free Man.... U overlooked at least one "luminary". Your apology in advance is, of course, accepted.

STONEWALL! Hello.

The reason why I left you out in this thread is because a certain friend of yours stated in the old forum, that the two of you were persona non grata. That's what happened here. My apologies!!!

Oh, Free of Juice, U see that "old friend" was really an "old liar". Can we presume he's dead? More importantly, I've missed your many postings, etc.

Oh, actually, I was just playin' w/ U, J-Man, as when U mentioned about the "luminaries" (I luv that word), U didn't know that S & S and Charise and others were back. "It crossed in the Mail". Butt, U did know Sister Detroit and Soul Sister were on board. I consider them SDF luminaries. U don't? "Uh, oh, better get Macco."

I was made aware the other night that the Yahoo groups Soulmusic Home forum had ILLEGALY posted photos belonging to me, which I had posted here on SD!
Needless to day, I was livid.
I instantly emailed them and had them removed.

What's up all!

STONEWALL: the folks that I didn't mention were the folks that I had seen post in the new forum. Naturally I would have mentioned Bobby E, as he's cool with me. Naturally, I would have mentioned Sister Detroit, Soul Sister & Charise. It's just that they were already on board, so, there was no need to ask where they were.

Bobby E: I know that I kid around with pictures & I have to find out what's acceptable & what's not, as regards posting them. As you pointed out, some may take offense. I don't think it's cool that someone ripped off your pictures & posted them elsewhere. What would be the best workaround for this type of situation?

Peace!
Juice

The person who posted them was a former SD pooster who started a site with David Nathan on yahoo.
They SHOULD know better.

"E"...I'm sure TC meant no harm...but it was wrong to use your images without permission. If your time permits...you may want to check into "Digimarc" (www.digimarc.com), which will allow you to watermark your images (at a minimum)...with several great upgrades available.

There is a major difference between generic images and someone's personal photos - and it doesn't take a degree in Musicology to be able to tell them apart. While something like a scan of a well-known album sleeve might be "borrowed" unnoticed, a personal photograph posted for the benefit of friends is something unique, and should be viewed with respect. I fully agree with Bobby - it's only common courtesy to ask - before republishing. When I was putting my Temptations early history article together, I wanted to use David's pic of Johnnie Mae Matthews' house. I asked, he gave permission - and I credited the source. It really isn't a major effort to send a polite email request, which seems obvious to me. I guess some folks view the internet as the world's biggest free library, and feel no need for such courtesy.

Good point Bobby & Ritchie. Let me ask you this: If these folks had given proper credit, would that practice still be verbotten? In other words, the proper way to do it would be to ask the owner, regardless, whether you credit the source or not. I ask this because, I've seen a lot of what Bobby describes, on the internet daily. I, myself, am not very versed on the proper ettiquette of thes things. I would never want to offend anyone by misusing their pictures in such fashion. I ask, because as you may know, I do little parodies from time to time with pictures. I would not want to be guilty of any wrong-doing in any way. I definitely would never use anyones picture in a misleading fashion, as though it was my property to post.

Peace!
Juice
