A Top 15 is way too small to list all my 100% top quality favourites (a top 15 of which might change from day to day-mood to mood). The best I can do is list the first 15 great ones I happen to think of now (order not indicative of anything): 1)Young Boy-Barbara Green 2)Serenade In Blue-Gloria Lynne 3)That's How Heartaches Are Made-Baby Washington 4)Oh No, Not My Baby-Maxine Brown 5)Love Woke Me Up This Morning-Brenda Holloway 6)I'm Gonna Make You Love Me-Dee Dee Warwick 7)A House Is Not A Home-Dionne Warwick 8)Hey There, Lonely Boy-Ruby & Romantics 9)I Wish You Love-Gloria Lynne 10)Love Me, Or Leave Me-Nina Simone 11)Mama Didn't Lie-Jan Bradley 12)It's Gonna Be All Right-Maxine Brown 13)Gonna Be Ready-Betty Everett 14)Happiness Is Here-Tobi Lark 15)When Someone's Good To You-Carolyn Crawford This is ridiculous! There are so many more. I wasn't even able to consider Sarah Vaughn, Dinah Washington, Barbara Lewis, most of Dionne and Dee Dee Warwicks' work, most of Motown's women, any of the Chicago female vocalists. When I'm Gone-Brenda Holloway Mary Wells-many Kim Weston Most of Betty Everett I'm Over You-Jan Bradley Darlene Love Cissy Houston Natalie Cole Ortheia Barnes The lesser known but great female girls group lead singers from Detroit, Chicago, Phil., NY, L.A., etc. |

You're right about Freda, Lady! The funny thing about her is that I ignored her work for so many years because all I ever heard was 'Band Of Gold'. I HATE HATE HATE that damn song! LOL. I finally came around and I discovered excellent tunes by her like 'In Motion', 'Two Wrongs Don't Make A Right', 'I Get High (On Your Memory)' and 'It's Yours To Have', among many others. The lady is bad! Not only is Miss Payne drop dead gorgeous but she's got the talent and excellent songs to back it up!

Yeah all I ever heard was BAND OF GOLD (which is one of my favorites, sorry!) but have discovered recently that she had many hits after that! And in addition to the Three Degrees, Cher and Lola Falana, my brother also had a serious crush on Freda! |

Yeah Lady, I see where your bro was coming from! I've got a crush on Miss Freda myself. It's funny that you should mention The Three Degrees. That's another group with a huge hit that I can't stand. 'When Will I See You Again' is such a sappy, watered down, soulless, piece of junk to me! I'm sorry Three Degrees fans but even Cher was recording more soulful songs than that in 1974! I've never gotten the appeal of that song. Hopefully I'll discover some good Soul tunes by them one day (if the recorded any). I do like their version of 'Maybe' and that lead singer has a really sexy voice. I have to admit that The Degrees are very lovely but I just haven't heard enough good songs by them to consider myself a fan. |

I think that WHEN WILL SEE YOU AGAIN concentrated on their vocals more than the other hits. Maybe that's what the producers at PIR was looking for when they released it. Just my opinion. |

Lady, it just sounds like a blatant crossover song to me. PIR got the big hit that they wanted out of it though. 'Maybe' is a lot more soulful and I think that the vocals are great. Songs like 'When Will I See You Again', 'Endless Love', 'How Many Times Can We Say Goodbye', 'I Will Always Love You', etc are just not my style! Sorry. LOL. |

She even got forgotten over Beyonce, Brownstone and other newbies... damn! LOL Is there no respect anymore for the most versatile and powerful set of pipes there is... Tough to read this after she's been singing for over 50 years... Give the lady some love!!! Wonder B |
