Bobby will performing at the Jazz FM Weekender at the Birmingham Hilton 28-30 May - for hardcore fans you should try to make this event because Bobby will be doing entirely different set to his other shows - he will be performing his sides which have been popular on the UK dance scenes from his Arista, Columbia and Beverley Glenn albums. I hope he is in the mood of when I last saw him in Manchester in the early 90's when he played for hours and encouraged the crowd to shout out songs for him to sing and had to be "thrown off" the stage by the security eventually. Bobby is another person who still performs with the likes of Latimore but remains ignored by the US mainstream press - a friend of mine caught him in Arkansas last year where he was performing to 5000 people at a casino. Anyone going over to Memphis this summer to visit the Stax Museum should check out the casinos in West Memphis area to see who is performing. Colin |

Yes Colin, the casinos in Tunica, Ms.(near Memphis)is the last time I saw Bobby Womack and Dee Dee Sharp perform.Bobby Womack always puts on a great show.Like all of our SOUL artists its difficult to get decent recording contracts and airplay in this day & age of disposable entertainment. |

My favorite Bobby Womack album is "Facts of Life". His guitar playing is phenomenal! Sam Cooke's influence is definitly notable on this particular album. My favorite song on the album is "I'm Through Trying To Prove My Love To You". Bobby's lyrics always touched me because they ring so true. Just listen to him sing "If You Can't Give Her Love Give Her Up", truer words were never spoken.

How can you tell an artist of Bobby Womack's calibre what to sing on a show and publicise the list of songs way in advance. I could understand that with a lesser artist who has a much smaller catalogue of recordings and maybe only 1 or 2 hits, a Northern soul crowd maybe, but Bobby Womack? I'll be going to see him in London and I can't wait either. |

I love Bobby Womack. My favorites are #! WITH A HUGE BULLET - Daylight. What a great song, that guitar work, the keys, backing singers & I love the arrangement. That song just grabs your heart. My next favorite would be, Facts Of Life/He'll Be There When The Sun Goes Down. Of course, there's: Nobody Wants You, Stop On By, Woman's Gotta Have It, That's The Way I Feel About Cha, I Feel A Groove, Harry Hippie, Looking For A Love, I'm Through Trying To Prove My Love To You, I Can Understand It & his post 1980 output. Justin, The shows he is doing in Manchester will be different to the Birmingham set...as I said.. I'll be happy to hear anything he sings.. but I think the promoters have ASKED him to do some stuff he rarely does at Birmingham.. which he has agreed to..knowing Bobby .. he will do it.. then carry on with whatever he feels we wanna hear. I agree with Vonnie on "Facts of Life".....but my favorite Womack LP has to be "Looking for a Love Again." Yes....I love "Understanding" and "Communication"......and his first two albums are pretty good, too......but "Looking For a Love Again" is a great mix of classic soul, jazz, blues and country......"Doing It My Way" might be my all-time favortite Womack song......"Point of No Return" is awesome..... |

NY-DELL-1, I just saw it mentionned by Soul Brother (Barry)yesterday. It seems that everybody has his favorite Bobby Womack LP, personally, I love all of them, with a slight preference for "Understanding" and "Communication", both recorded in a few days in the Memphis studios. |
