Everyday when I got home from work, I go straight to Soulful Detroit (after showering, of course). It used to be so difficult to keep up with all of the new threads. Now, I read the threads on the new forum, come back after a few hours & the threads are dormant. It's beginning to happen in the old forum as well. I'm beginning to feel like the astronaut in the "Where Is Everybody" episode of the Twilight Zone. Where is Isaiah, Medusa, Vonnie, NYC Diva, Charise, Dinelle, RD, Lady Love, LadyMystique, Manny, Rodmann, jrlo, Spyder, Ceasar, R&B, JoB, Cornbread, Linda Di, Vince, Lynn Bruce, Vonnie, Common, moe & sly fan? I used to get my daily SD fix, now I miss all of our debates, discourses & things as such. Now, all there is for me to do is my Photoshop pictures. Man, where is everyone? I miss my SD folks. I've had that same feeling, Juice. There's been an absence of the cut and thrust that made the forum such fun. Maybe when the people currently in the Twilight Zone make it through it will all start popping again. It's picked up a lot in the last few days IMO, but we need the whole gang here. | ||

220 different users have posted on the new forum to date. Most of the 93 have still to do so. I have 3 new applicants this morning. 4 applicants are being denied access. I have asked Lowell to close the old forum and don't expect the new forum to take off for another couple of months. For those hoping for our demise...... NO CHANCE. Those of us who've been around these parts long enough to remember the launch of the original SD Forum might also recall that it took more than a few months for it to hit its stride. It looks like SDF Mk.II is going through a similar (regenerative) process, after which it'll be business as usual - but minus the trolls and the troublemakers | ||

Hi, I only joined recently.. can't remember ever using the old Forum. I am impressed with the format and have never posted so much as on here. I don't know what troublemakers were here before, but it happens anywhere..on a group I run.. I have to be constatntly checking. Surely, if anyone starts to cause trouble.. they can be banned by the moderators. Hey, What's up Juice! I've been so busy with school and work lately that I haven't been able to post as much as I'd like to. I have been checking the forum every now and then though and I also noticed that it hasn't been as busy as usual. I just figured that it's because people are slowly getting used to the new format. I personally love the new format and I think that it will cut down on the trolls who posted on the old forum claiming to be superstars of the Classic Soul Era without any proof at all. Not even an email address! LOL. I'm also hoping that this new format will cut down on some of the nonsense that went on with the old forum so we can concentrate on the one thing that WE ALL have in common, THE LOVE FOR SOUL MUSIC! Besides the technical difficulties, the Forum does appear to have changed a bit. I am not sure why. I do know that occasionally a poster gets on here and starts some real ugliness. I have gone away several times because of personal attacks. In addition, there are posters who continally post about their favorites without being involved in the overall discussions about musicianship and the state of the industry (which attracts the greats I am so excited to find on this Forum). There is more to Soul Music than arguing about Diana/Mary/Supremes or what Vandella is singing with Martha Reeves. Having said all this, I enjoy the Forum and look forward to coming her daily. I am always learning something (who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks!) LOL!!! | ||

A bit of technical question from a computer non expert who does not have broadband.Is it my computer or does the new forum take longer to download (if thats the right word) as switching between topics seems to take ages? Hey Francis T, how are you? The amount of memory your computer has a big effect on how long it takes webpages to load. I will tell you that DSL & Cable is infinitely faster than dial-up, the difference is huge! | ||

Hello, soulful brothers and sisters! I have had some technical problems: a storm in the night of 29 march burned the internal modem of my I-Mac. Afther 20 days without connection i buy a new computer but with problems for restablishing the connection with my mail adress (I should to read the posts at the website of the mail administrator until find a solution, have many problems with the "X" SO of Mac and the spanish e-mail administrators... But, by now, the most important is that i can finally speak again with all of you, my dear friends. I read the posts by JuiceFree and Soul Sister and i'm feel very emmotioned.
