Good to be amongst you lot again, it was cold out there. :-))))

Ok,we are having a lovely sunny afternoon in London right now, ( which is a shame, cos I'm at work right now and I can only look outside the window ).

It got me to thinking though, with the potential of inviting friends round for those fab BBQ's, hot sunny afternoons, long cool lazy nights, what tracks would you pick if you were entertaining friends in the garden, roof top, whatever.

They must be summery in their flava, but don't have to have summer in the title.

Looking forward to seeing this list. :-))

Here's a few of mine to get ya started, and yes the cool beers are on me. ( wink )

Groovy Kind Of Day - Fatback Band
Darlin' Darlin' Baby - The O'Jays
Salsaulito - Grover Washington Jr
The Girl From Ipanema - Getz/Gilberto
Summertime - Sarah Vaughan
Summer In The City - Quincy Jones
Golden Lady - Jose Feliciano
Warm Weather - Pieces Of A Dream
Nights Over Egypt - The Jones Girls
The Look Of Love - Dusty Springfield
Let's Face The Music And Dance - Diana Krall
What A Fool Believes - The Doobie Bros
On The Street Where You Live - Nat"King"Cole
Vera Cruz- Stanley Turrentine
FM ( No Static At All ) - Steely Dan
Lowdown - Bozz Scaggs
He Loves You - Seawind
Breezin' - George Benson

Well, I hope there's enough of a selection there to satisfy most tastes.

Looking forward to reading some of yours. :-))

By the way, I think those king prawns look just about done. ( wink )

Hello everyone ..

Richard,

Its been a bit overcast today where I am ( North East London ), but pleasantly mild and hopefully a sign of things to come!!

How about the following :-

Jazzy/Soul selection :-

"La Costa" - NATALIE COLE
"Tropical Love" - ANGELA BOFILL
"Good Times" - ROSIE GAINES
"I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings" - BUCKSHOT LeFONQUE

Northern Soul selection :-

"Bar-B-Q" - WENDY RENEE
"Just Like The Weather" - NOLAN CHANCE

And some good old British tunes :-

"In The Sand" - I LEVEL
"Girl I Betcha" - HI TENSION
( "B" side of "Hi Tension" and IMO .. a classic!!)

Roger

The whole "Light of Worlds" album by Kool and the Gang.....

The "Stoned Soul Picnic" album by 5th Dimension.....

Anything from the post-1958 Drifters....

"Summertime" by Sam Cooke...

"It's Summer" by the Temptations...

And, as always, anything classic reggae or African works in hot weather......Marley's "Kaya" album, Toots and the Maytals, Gregory Isaacs, King Sunny Ade and Bunny Wailer are good starting points...."96 Degrees in the Shade" by Third World is very appropriate....
