Elbridge "Al" Bryant is featured on a handful of the Temps' early (pre-Ruffin) sides, though there are no recordings where he sings lead. By all accounts, he was quite a dynamic performer, singing lead on a few numbers in the group's early Live act, which relied heavily on other people's songs. (Of course, they didn't have any hits of their own in the early days!) He's been described by those who heard him as a Ted Taylor -type tenor. |

Yes, Al was a member of the Dramatics, but for a very short time. He also sang with a group called the Premiers.

Hi! Sorry, but Elbridge Bryant never was a member of the Dramatics. In the very first line-up there were Elbert Wilkins, Ron Banks, Rod Davis, Larry Reed and Larry Demps. In the liner notes to their '88 Live album Elbridge is listed, but he was mistaken for Al/Elbert Wilkins. Best regards Heikki |
