Can someone give me some insight into the song, "If You Let Me Make Love to You (then why can't I touch you)". There was a debate on an oldies radio station about 4 years ago by a Philly DJ named Ali Hackett (who is a self proclaimed King of the Oldies with crown, cape and scepter) who had callers call in to render their version of the hidden meaning. It there some type of folklore or urban myth about this song? Or is it simply lyrics and nothing more. S'plain please. |

Ronnie was a dear friend and a good soul. I am sure that he is leader of the heavenly choir. |

Nosey: "(If You Let Me Make Love To You) Why Can't I Touch You" was from the Broadway musical "Salvation" (circa 1970). Capitol Records released an original cast album months before Ronnie recorded the song. Kevin Goins - KevGo |

It's good to see we're still talking about Ronnie Dyson, even though there was an extensive thread on him before in the old forum. Keep it coming! The two songs that I wish that was included on his Greatest Hits CD but never were are "Lady In Red" and "Cup Runneth Over". Norman Harris and Vinnie Barrett really made "Lady" come alive with excellent lyrics and top-notch arranging/production by the late, great Mr. Harris himself. And with "Cup", another great songwriter, the late Al Felder merged mind to pen in this B-side powerhouse by the vocal prowess of Ronnie Dyson. Of course, music by MFSB. Forgot who arranged it, but it somebody other than Norman. Anyway, those songs would've made the CD complete, but for some reason they were omitted. WHY? |
