Anyone else with me that this is one of the best box sets ever made?

I've had this quite awhile and I swear every time I listen to Levi and the gang on this set it just flat out moves me.....emotionally and in many other ways. Maybe I'm just a wimp, but some of their songs strike a personal chord with me and move me to near tears in their beauty.

Just perfect music......great songwriting......Every phase of their career is just a great example of the Tops at their best ...

The Tops should be better appreciated for the depth of their music.....Too often they are dismissed by many average fans as "Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch" and that's it.....Huge mistake there......

I'm listening to it right now at work and just finished disc 3 after listening to the first 2 discs at home. Disc 3 is almost like the Tops' take on Philly soul. But the early hits and rarities are spectacular, too. Definitely some of the best soul music ever recorded.....Sorry to gush but I'm feelin' it and it's good stuff...

Easter Good Friday - England

I fully agree with You, but I also rate so highly the first DOUBLE ANTHOLOGY CD released on the FOUR TOPS back in 1986! - that is playing now and LEVI still brings the tears to the eyes!

Levi Stubbs is one of the great voices in soul..as you said..very underrated.
I have them on my webpage under the 'Great Voices'
So sad that Levi is too ill to still perform.
Anyone know if he will ever be back onstage?

Anytime I hear Levi's voice & the Tops' harmonies it moves my soul, especially on songs like "Ask The Lonely", "Sad Souveniers", "Still Water (Love)", "(It's The Way)Nature Planned It" and "I Believe In You & Me".

Yeah....those added intros are nice......I like the combo on "Still Water", too....

John....I had that original Anthology on LP....A great one, too.....though I gotta give the edge to the "Fourever" set.....I never say one anthology is all you need.....but in this case, it's pretty darn close.....Pretty complete set of what's currently available on CD...

How's this for my play list at work today??

Four Tops - "Fourever"
Curtis Mayfield - "Got To Find a Way"
Jerry Butler - "Ice Man Cometh/Ice On Ice"
The Spinners - "Spinners"

Not bad eh? Anyone topping that today??

Just A Little Love really shows what a great voice Levi has. Can't understand why this track remained unreleased for so long!

FOUREVER is fantastic and the booklet inside with all the great pics, some of which I had never seen, is just awesome...

Yes indeed one of the best long box compilations I have seen, with the Emperors of Soul (Temps)

Four Tops have always been my favorite.
First off they have Levi Stubbs-the greatest singer of all time. Second they have Duke,Obie and Mr. Payton in back up vocals-along with the Adantes on many of the hits.
Third they have the greatest writing team of all time- H.D.H. And last but not least they have the Funk Brothers playing some of their finest music of all time-featuring some of the best work that J.J. has ever played bass on.
