Bob,
We have missed your posts on the forum so I thought a new Babbitt thread may spark your return!
We (us bass players!) are all wondering about the bass you were playing on American Idol. Can you give us the lowdown on it? Is it a prototype for a signature Babbitt bass from Fender?

Regards,
Russ

I got an e-mail from the Babbitt. He was having trouble registering. Man you don't want to keep Babbitt at the door. He'll break the sucker down. I sent his situation to Lowell, so we should see him soon.

Blueryhthmbass..The Bass on the American Idol show was a New Bass Fender and Universal Records presented to me with the Motown 45 logo and a logo for a new Motown CD called Motown #1's coming out soon......The CD logo appears numerous times on the front of the Bass.....the logo has photos of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross and Micheal Jackson on it along with Motown # 1's.They also made one for me present to Randy Jackson, one of the judges on the American Idol show who also is a great Bass player...the Funk's autographed the back of the Bass..I have asked Fender to make one for Jamersons widow that I will present to her......As far as a Bob Babbitt signature Bass I will be talking to them soon about that........
Moe.......Funk's to tour states and Europe again ,talk of several recording projects, a new CD (Hopefully some orginal songs) You can keep your eye on Bob Babbitt.com schedule for future concert info..... Ralph...Thanks
Eli...Hey *%&# You got a problem with that? %$#&

Bob - thanks for the update. Glad to hear that you are feeling good enough not to have surgery yet! Hopefully, Fender will get that bass on the market soon - I would love to have one!
By the way, are you bidding on Jamerson's Upright bass that is up for auction right now? It's up to around $200,000!
Regards,
Russ

Russ.....I will be curious as to if anyone will bid that much for the Jamersons Upright Bass...
It very well could sell for even higher to someone in the music business that has been financally succesful and was into the Motown music...As far as the Motown Bass, I am not sure if they will be making any more Bass's with the logo's on them? They only made two.....one of them I presented to Randy Jackson (American Idol Judge and great Bass player)the other one was for me, but I have asked Fender to make a third one as I am want to give one to Jamersons wife...If you really want one I could speak to Fender and ask them if that is possible...Bob

Hey nice to see you again on the boards!

I always thought that maybe the Motown Museum would have a use for it like for a display, being that I am planning a trip there this summer! :-)

Mr Babbitt, I'm still pretty new to this board so as I've not previously had the chance, I'd like to thank you for the wonderful music you've brought us. Man, I can't watch SITSOM without it bringing tears of happiness to my eyes, just knowing how satisfying it must now feel for recognition to be received worldwide for the genius of your individual and collective efforts all those years ago. I truly hope that the ones who are no longer with us know how grateful and appreciative we all are. The most special moment for me was how you summed up my exact feelings that Pistol was already in heaven during the recording of that show.

Anyway, I'll be checking your schedules out closely in future as I found out you were in England when it was already too late the last time around. I don't intend missing out again.

Thanks again and if any of the other Funk Bros are resident to this board and reading this, thank you also.

Justin
