I am waiting patiently for my copy of the new O'Jays album to arrive in England from the USA, the few small cuts of tracks I have heard soind good, what is the general feeling? Who are the writers and where was it recorded? Thanks John |

Thanks Kevin For me that is good news, as a few of the O'Jays albums after leaving Philly where a little disappointing in my opinion. I wondered why adverts said featuring the voice of Eddie & Walter. Thanks John |

I have always wondered y Sammy Strain left the OJays to return to LA and the Imperials, considering the Imperials really back one person. |

Jimmy: Sammy Strain left the O'Jays because of money matters. It was mentioned in the Old Forum that when Sammy replaced William Powell, he was not receiving a share of the "pie" equal that of Eddie Levert & Walter Williams. After dealing with that for several years, he returned to Little Anthony & the Imperials in the early 1990s. He mentioned in a TV interview back in 1997 that he returned to the group because he was offered more money than what he was making in the O'Jays. BTW - Little Anthony & the Imperials tour "the big rooms" across the country, ranging from casinos & supper clubs to luxury hotels (they give a show every year at the Waldorf-Astoria here in NYC). A colleague of mine played drums for their 1993 Waldorf-Astoria gig and revealed to me that their show was sold out. Kevin Goins - KevGo |

About 4 years ago, I saw Little Anthony & the Imperials at the Dell, which is an outdoor venue here in Philly. In all of my 20 plus years attending this venue, I HAVE NEVER experienced the crowd not allowing a group to leave the stage! We stood around chanting, "we want more" after they attempted to end the show twice! They had to be brought back for a third time. They were just phenomenal and when they sang, "Just Two Kind of People in the World" acapella, it was all over! My only disappointment is not seeing them live back in the 60s when they were steppin and doing acrobatics on stage. That night at the Dell I will never forget. |

Just a quick question about the O'jays... who was this Eric Nolan Grant fella that replaced Sammy Strain?. Looking at the cover of 1997 "Love To To Tears" cd, he seems way younger than Walter & Eddie. |

HI; Don't know if its a fact but rumor in the early 1990's was said that Sammy Strain also returned to the Imperials because he preferred doing their harmony sounds, singinging Imperials harmony rather than the part he was doing in the O'Jays, this is besides the money issue which I'm sure was first priority. Who knows, maybe they were equal priorities. I met Anthony Gourdine in 1965, and saw him perform as recently as 2 years ago, and I can tell you his voice sounds just as good as ever live, as does the group harmony. Just beautiful! S.S.

Hey Sis, KevLo, how was your Easter? That's a good shot of the Brooklyn boy. He still sounds good & still enjoys performing. It's amazing to think that I wasn't even born when his first hits came out. All of these years later, he's still doing it & hardly seems to have aged much. For all of their acknowledgements, they still seem to be very underrated. As always, say hi to Jimmy for me Peace! Juice |

Hey everyone, well according to VH1 Classic, Eddie and Walter came in to lay some vocals down. I still miss Sammy though. The guy who replaced him is in his early or mid 40's. Heard a few clips online, most of it sounds like early '80s stuff, sparer than usual, so-so and not too different from regular "in the can" stuff, nothing really made me want to go out and buy the CD. As for that All Music Guide review--another botch job, they can do much better than that, well I did when I was there. The CD does sound interesting though. Tuesday Afternoon England Well the "Together We are One" CD arrived this morning, I love it! - it is the O'Jay's I loved - the True Philly Sound - the label on the cover calls it "The Lost O'Jays Album" all tracks are previously unreleased. Okay some are just Good Philly Tracks! but Eddie is still 100% and the title TOM BELL TRACK! - Spot On! Give it a Go! - John

I remember some of those sessions. Now I know why they did not make the final cut. Boring, at best. |

Hi Brother Juice!! G&H never did a lot of over cutting and therefore there arent many unreleased songs available, not on the major artists anyway so the Ojays cd came as a surprise. There is however, my one and only production for PIR which was a song on the Intruders called Save your love for me which was co written by Vinnie Barrett and myself. |

Bobbi - the Truth for me is the O'Jays just being Good/Average or Bad in your case(LOL)is much much better than some Fantastic Tracks by some others! Still think it is a fair album for a True O'Jays Fan. Cheers John (Message edited by jaybs on April 14, 2004) |

NY Daily News yesterday had article that OJays lost their court case to block Philly Intl from releasing cd that Ojays said was inferior and hurt their reputation in the music business. |

I got a copy of the O'Jays "Together We Are One" and I can understand why they didn't want it released. The material is really dry and after hearing it you can understand why this stuff has been in the can all of these years. As a solid supporter and follower of the group I'm glad to have this for my collection. This CD is ONLY for diehard followers of the group. |
