I did watch it. And I must admit, I was laughing so hard that I was nearly in tears. But on the serious side, I feel sorry for the contestants. For those who aren't familiar with the show, the point is to find the most awful singer in America. Good singers are rejected. Only the truly awful get voted through. Those who are accepted don't know that it is because they are bad. The contestants are flown to Hollywood, groomed, compete, and will be voted off each week. When the winner is finally chosen, that's when it will be revealed that it was all a prank, to find the worst singer. I read an article on the show a few days ago. Even the studio audience isn't aware of the prank. To insure that they wouldn't boo the bad singers, the audience was told that the contestants were from the Make A Wish foundation. I believe this organization grants wishes to terminially ill people. I thought the reality craze had hit its bottom with THE SWAN. But at least those contestants knew up front what they were getting involved with. SUPERSTAR takes the genre a drastic step lower. | ||

Reese, Amen....and it ain't gonna stop till one day when Brent Mushberger says, "You are looking live at the Colisium, as promised, today we bring you the Christians vs. the Lions...." And that may only be the beginning. First time I heard about the "Swan" I thought the woman was pulling my leg. | ||

Destruction!! Just as soon as they can convince the public that this is what they want to see, believe me , it will be done. The moment they believe that they can get away with it, BOOM!!! The sad thing is that it would be the highest rated program of all time. That's the shame of it. |
