Good morning everyone!
I saw the temptin' Temptations on Saturday and had a ball! The show was highly charged and the Tempts were in top form. Otis has just had major knee surgery, so he didn't do the moves with the rest of the fellas, but he was in good spirits, making lots of jokes, and he generously posed for pictures with his fans backstage. I had the opportunity to meet the Emperors of Soul after the show, and both Otis and Joe autographed my tickets! I got hugs from both of them as well as G.C. Cameron, who was impressed that I knew he was the original lead vocalist of The Spinners! Me and my gyrlz were lookin' fine (of course), and we told anyone who would listen "We're The Supremes!" I would follow this with a quip, "Well, actually I'm Teena Marie!" which the guys loved. Joe said, "You ladies should have come up on stage with us...We would have let you strutt your thang, 'cept you woulda stolen the show!" (I don't know about all that, but heyyyy!) Vocally, they were superb and they received many roses from the audience. The set list was quite long, and about half the songs were actually the full song. The songs were:

1. The Way You Do The Things You Do
2. Aint Too Proud To Beg
3. Its Growing
4. Ball of Confusion
5. Papa Was A Rolling Stone
6. Standing On The Top
7. Treat Her Like A Lady
8. Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me)
9. Stay
10. Since I Lost My Baby
11. Ill Be In Trouble
12. All I Need
13. Get Ready
14. The Girls Alright With Me
15. Please Return Your Love To Me
16. Dont Look Back
17. I Wish It Would Rain
18. Youre My Everything
19. Beauty Is Only Skin Deep
20. My Girl
21. (I Know) Im Losing You

Note that they specifically did not perform most of the Dennis Edwards lead-vocal hits. No "Cloud Nine", etc. I get the feeling that they must be on good terms with Dennis and are letting him "have" his lead vocal hit repertoire for The Dennis Edwards Temptations Revue. Now that is interesting! Otis acknowledged all of the Temptations, living (Dennis, Ali-Ollie, etc.) and dead (Eddie, Paul, Melvin and David), who are part of the Temptations family tree, to which he received a thunderous standing ovation. My favorite part was after the show, getting all my hugs and autographs!

B.Y. :o)
