On a long drive yesterday, I played Hits of the 60s by Choker Campbell. First time I really listened to it since it came out. Back then I thought it was Motown meets Glenn Miller.

Now I recognise the musicianship and brilliant big band arrangments.

Question is: was Choker Campbell's big 16 piece band on this album all made up of the musicians that toured with the revues? The rhythm section stuff is based on what the Funks did, but the emphasis is slightly more syncopated. Were any of the Funks involved in the recording? And who did those arrangements? Was it Choker himself, Maurice King - or did the regular Motown arrangers have a hand in it?

Anyone who hasn't heard it, it really is a most extraordinary album and a completely different take on Motown numbers such as Baby Love, Baby I Need Your Loving and so on, as well as Fingertips and Dancing In the Street.

Any of our experts fill in the story?

Dave

How did you get the "best fit" to screen?

Was it automatic?

Other posts still seem to require scrolling to the right.

David....
.....I was looking at Ray's posting of American Idol pictures and noticed it was very w i d e, wide enough to accomodate the pictures. Text only threads are coming in at a normal width. I wonder if the width of the file depends on the width of the opening post.

It's just a knack I guess, David. I've been wondering about this myself.

Now that everyone's home for Easter, any answers on the above would be appreciated.
