All, I've had this link for about a month. It has been so hard for me to post it. For the ones bothered by it - please forgive me. I've felt so sad and bothered by it - but I just couldn't hold it back any longer. I still will always love Marvin Gaye for what he gave me and the world. Nite. http://www.crimelibrary.com/no torious_murders/celebrity/marv in_gaye/index.html?sect=26

I feel not so good about Marvins' tormented life of Drugs and dealing with his Dad and all, but the Sex part???? Hey, I bet he was a real Dr. Feelgood...A real Sexual Healer~~~Mercy! Mercy! Mercy! (LOL) (Message edited by ~medusa on May 14, 2004) |

Go Get Gone Girl, It is hard to read about the painful lives of artists. I bought the book -Divided Soul written by David Ritz in 1985 when it came out. It made me laugh & cry!! The author of this book used some of Ritz's quotes, but I don't know where he got the pictures. The young man on the right is Marvin's son, I'm not sure if the younger boy is his son, Frankie or not, but the two young ladies are not Janis or Nona!!!!! He should've asked someone to give him the correct info, especially when writing a book and adding pictures!! I would like to read Frankie's book, to get a sense of realness from someone who is actually related to him, but Ritz's book was good! |

Thanks for the link, I"ll read the entire thing later, but from what I saw it was fascinating . Funny but I miss Marvin as well. The Last time I saw him live in concert was in Merrivillve Indiana (outside Chicago) in the spring before he passed. Shelia E was playing percussion for him and he did part of his performance in silk pajamas. A great, great performer. MPG Forever. Kdub |

TO each there own. And we all have our vices. It doesn't change his music and what it meant to us by any means. Hopefully he found his peace with God. Thanks for the link. Very unusual stuff. |

Handsome then you may know he was having fun at the piano which was postioned slightly off stage and not in full view of the audience. I won't say what he was doing but he was not feeling any pain. I was sitting in celebrity row, and for those of you who don't know, I am not a celebrity, its just the way that special seating is organized at this venue for those who pay the piper. Marvin was at the top of his game that night and his performance is etched in my brain forever. Shelia E, was so dynanmic I wanted to get up on stage with her, the woman can flat out play and she is so fine..........and then several months later he was gone.............. |

I have read many books on Marvin and I have yet to get Frankie's book. Marvin's music will always live on. I am a huge fan from the time I bought SEXUAL HEALING on a 45 (which was my first musical purchase BTW at 8 years old!) Many things have been written about him, but like everyone else, I pay attention to the music and the legacy he has left behind. It is sad how his life ended so violently and so young...I wish he was still here. Still can't believe he is gone and it has been 20 years now. |

After reading this article, it's so too bad that this had to be publicized. Marvins' daughter Nona is in the process of a music career. Some things are beter left UNsaid. ...and Marvin Gaye isn't/wasn't/and will never be the only Troubled Man/"Person". |

After reading most of the article on this thread, I'm not buying that book. I love Marvins' Music, and I always will...what he did off~stage, was between him and whomever else it was involved...I like music...good music. I buy CD's, Cassettes, and I still buy 45's & Albums. What's the point in dragging his lifestyle OFF THE STAGE into a book...but I guess the price was right. |

All of the Gay children were bed wetters, and the father's brothers were all a bunch of homosexuals... Now, I don't know that I wanted to know all of that, but they sho as hell wanted me to know all of that... Medusa, you're right... As a mother, I am sure you're probably thinking about Nona as mother to her own children, and the impact such information could have on the minds of her children... Damn, the price of being a public figure... All the freakin' money on the planet aint worth it, I tellya... Peace! Isaiah |
