All, I heard - "I Got So Much To Give" on my way home from work today. I miss many folks - but for some reason - I really miss Barry. My favorite song by Barry - outta many = "I Got So Much To Give." Why am I tearing up so much these days? Anyway - I also love "Walkin' In The Rain - With The One I Love." Props still goes out to Barry. What is your favorite Barry White song? R.I.P. - Barry White. http://www.discostepbystep.com /barry_white.htm

"Cant Get Enough" is probably my favorite Barry White vocal tune, with "I Only Want To Be With You" a close second.......but I really love his Love Unlimited Orchestra material.......Anyone who could write and produce such works must've been incredibly talented! |

Guess I just remember when he died (July 4th, right?) I was at work & we had the computer on-oh, what a sad day that was for me!! I saw him in Dayton in the late 70's. Oh brother, I just danced in the aisles with anyone that asked!! My favorites? I've Got So Much To Give & It's Ectasy (when you lay down here). They definitely remind me of the man that I love!! God Bless you Barry-I hope you're making all the ladies in heaven squeal with delight!! |

Moe, If Barry's songs remind you of the man you love, and considering the romantic content of his songs, I would have to say your man is one fortunate dude. I should be so lucky! |

Evening all! My favorite Barry songs are simply too extensive to settle on one. I love many different songs for different reasons. As I was coming of age in those Disco 70s, Barry set the mood many nights. As a young man, Barry never let you down, he had the love thang on lock! I can never get away from Barry. Whenever I meet someone & say hello, they always tell me that I sound like Barry White. I'm always flattered by the comparison. I can't sing, but, I'll Barry White the hell out of you I felt so bad when he died. He had blew up all over again. A new generation was digging Barry & he was back, with the HIP HOP CROWD as well! It was great to see them embrace him. I just wish that it would have lasted longer! Moe: How are you doing there??? I'll speak with you later. But, after reading your post, I think that you need some time in the confessional!!! That's right Sister, you need some time at SDanon Ralph: I AGREE!!!

My mother used to kill that " I've Got So Much To Give" LP, LOL. Everytime I hear it, it reminds me of her. It's hard to believe that he's really gone......but will always remain in my musical heart.......forever. I'll name my favorite Barry White cuts a little later.......

Juice, There is no confession here about my "honey"-it's the truth. And if you sound like Barry, the ladies should love you!! Ralph, As Barry would say: "Oh, Baby!........." Barry, you are so missed!! |

All, I hear 'ya. I also love "Ecstacy." My God! The DJ on the Howard University radio station today played the record and mentioned that she recently found an old Jet magazine w/a story about Barry in it. And within the last few days - and during their "Soulful Cafe" hour (when they take requests from 12:00 to 1:00 - they request a meal by naming the food and a tune - LOL!) two people requested "I Got So Much To Give." I also love the Love Unlimited era - period. I absolutely love "Can't Get Enough" & "I'm Gonna Love You Just A Little Bit More - Babbee." Like Juice stated - there really are too many to name. My friend and I got together ten years ago when Barry graced us with "Practice What You Preach." Well - I blew his mind off of that one. LOL! Speaking of "message songs", well - why can't some love songs be considered as such? "So Much To Give", is a pure message to me. "IT'S GONNA TAKE LIFETIME" "GONNA TAKE YEARS" OMG - "War" is on the "Nothing But Motown" station - now! "DON'T LET NOONE - NOONE GET YOU DOWN" LOL! (Message edited by gogogirl on May 14, 2004) |

"Walking In The Rain With The One I Love" is not by BARRY WHITE (as posted by someone above). It is by the fabulous LOVE UNLIMITED (the girl group). Barry's voice is only heard as a spoken intro. Also, he wrote the song, produced the song and married the lead singer, GLODEAN. Those facts are ironically analogous to PHIL SPECTOR and RONNIE, lead singer of THE RONETTES, who years before happened to have a hit song entitled, "Walking In The Rain", which Phil wrote and produced and married the lead singer!!! Ironic, too, that both famous couples eventually split!

Yes they did split but remained friends whereas Phil and Ronnie had a few lawsuits... In the Barry White DVD (Live in Germany) there are interviews of the singer and Glodean back in the days and a rather recent one, and in that one, Glodean is in the recording studio with Barry... I doubt very much this could have happened with Phil and Ronnie... and now that he's being tried for murder it'll be out of the question... DyvaNaye you have hawk eyes!!! LOL How in the world did you manage to read the name on the Jet Mag cover...????? That scan is small and grainy! I even have trouble reading it with the original copy of the mag in my hands LOOOOOL!!! Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! |

I remember it as if it we're yesterday. I heard Berry White had pass on a friday of the summer on The 4th of July. I was really caught off guard of hearing of his passing. A buddy of mine cheered me up by inviting me to P-Funk's off and on again key & syn wiz Bernie Worrell & The Woo Warriors club date a day later. I did tell Bernie that BW had passing, cause as I think back on it, he didn't know about it? A true story in fact. RIP BW. |

The last time that I saw Barry White was with Vonnie on december 5th, 1998 at Madison Square Garden. Brian Mc Knight was the opening act. The place was jam packed and love was oozing from every crevice of that venue that day. One could tell though, that Barry was a bit weak and had lost quite a bit of weight and he had to use his stool on occasion but he was still the same love man we all have grown to know and love. |

All, Hey Eli. Thanks for that rememberance. I was so sorry to hear about your friend - John Whitehead. You posted some wonderful pics on the other thread. I think - I remember when you posted them originally. Thanks. Barry was the master - as it pertained to singing lovemaking and stroking music. And the gazing into each other's eyes music. He was another one that did it his way, indeed. I don't think he could have changed up too drastically if he had tried. His specialty was in delivering up "Sweet - Sweet Soul Music." Barry really did put the "L" in Soul music. His style started and ended with "L"ove. |

Sorry, Moe. Further investigation proves BW wrote a song for the Banana Splits called "Doin' the Banana Splits"--not the actual theme song. They would lip sync to this song during one or two episodes. |

Hi all, Can anyone on the board tell me who Barry White's band members were? I want to know who is playing piano and keys on "Ecstacy" as well as the other tunes! Does anybody know? (Standing in the Shadow of BW? ) Barry is sorely missed! D |
