Hello, This was posted on the Discuss Detroit forum by mistake. I think it belongs over here...
quote: By Stephen Caldwell Sr. (Unregistered Guest) on Monday, May 10, 2004 - 4:53 pm: Hello to all of you Orlons Fans,I would like to thank Barry Levine and Chris from the UK for getting this information for me. After thirty two years I have been put in contact with a person that I had to MAKE sing back in 1961. On Tuesday May 4th 2004 I got a phone call from Barry Levine out of New York telling me that he had good news for me, it was Rosetta's telephone number in London where she has been living for the last 25 years or so. I right away called her and we talked for over an hour and I still have the goose bumps that came up as soon as I heard Rosetta's voice. I have informed Rosetta of all the people that have asked of her whereabouts, and she asked me to thank you all for your interest in her. I have asked if she would accept letters from her loving public here in the states and was told to just hold off for a little while. As soon as she gives me the word, I will post her e-mail address. Again I want to thank all of you people that are fan of The Orlons for keeping our music that we recorded alive and well. THANK YOU. I will get back soon. Stephen J.Caldwell Sr.

Thanks Andrew.I'm really happy that Rosetta is fine and that Steve was able to talk to her.I have always loved the Orlons and consider them to be one of the greatest groups in Rock history. |

I am so happy to hear that one of those darling girls is a survivor sfter thr dreadful stories that have surfaced regarding the others . I have three of their cds. I don't know how legit they are(meaning did an actual record company release them or not?).They are most definitely imports. But I treasure them as I do anything by the soulful quartet. That CAMEO label is a memory (like MOTOWN)that I hope will never fade. I loved my 45s.I never quite understood why they've been swept under the oldies rug as far as availability of their groovy down home song catalogue goes. Their 45 covers are true works of art. I love them love them love them!.....such dynamos, that energy was contagious. STILL IS!...true treasures! |

LaBrenda, we should soon be able to buy the new Cameo/Parkway Box Set that is suppose to be released soon.It is remastered from the original tapes.Me & my brother still have our old 45's with the pix case of Orlons, Dee Dee Sharp, Chubby Checker and the Dovells. The B sides were always a great surprise. |

Wonder B, THANK YOU 100 times over for posting these fantastic pics of this far-too-overlooked group! My mother is a huge fan, has several of their 45s, and has been upset for over 40 years that my aunt mistakenly THREW AWAY my mama's picture sleeve to "Dont' Hang Up" while cleaning their room! LOL! My mother STILL bugs my aunt about this to this day!!! I am going to print out the picture sleeve you so graciously posted and give it to my Mom. BTW -- this Cameo/Parkway Box Set is great news and is LONG OVERDUE. I bought a brand-new cd about 4 years ago for my Mom that I am convinced is a bootleg, like those dubious Marginal CDs. It is called "The Orlons: Down Memory Lane" and features 29 songs. It is definitely not remastered, though it is factory-pressed, and while it has been a treasure to have after so many years of collector frustration, it does not do justice to the group or the songs. Does anyone know about this CD? "Don't Hang Up (Don't You Do It Now)" "South Street (Hurry Down, Baby It's The Hippest Street In Town!)" Bless You |

The group shot of the girls (after Steve had left) is one of Shirley's sisters on the left. Marlena Davis had left in '63 although most pic sleeves after her departure, I think after "Crossfire", still showed shots taken with her. The girls did do a good record called "Spinning Top" b/w "Anyone Who Had A Heart" on Calla label in 1966. Soooo good to hear of Rosetta! Glad she and Steve were able to talk. |

FYI..... The Orlons were brought to Cameo by Len Barry who attended the same high schol as the Orlons, Overbrook High in west Philly. I believe that their first single was the pretty ballad "I'll be True" |

Thank you (and bless you) again, Wonder B! What a cute pic! I think this one is the pic that is silkscreened on the "Down Memory Lane" disc. Tony - yes the CD is indeed wonderful to have! I have high hopes for this new Box Set! The sound should be really great! Fingers crossed.... |

The above pic is actually from their Cameo lp titled "Down Memory Lane". The girl pictured above Rosetta (top left) is Marlena's replace- ment. I can't remember her name, but I think she was the wife of a musician that worked with the group. GREAT photos!!! I am hopeful some of the colorful graphics will be used as part of the CD box set booklet which Jeff Tamarkin is in the process of writing. |
