1) I'll Keep On Holdin On--smokey Wanda slinks and slams. Sill cant sit still for this one. 2) Please Mr. Postman--Gladys tears it up--still infectious. The best opening-? WAIT! 3)Forever--simply stunning--still cant tell the difference between W and G on this one. 4)As Long As I Know He's Mine--neglected and so hot!Bob a loo Bob a loo!! 5)Danger Heartbreak Dead Ahead--yes its somewhat I'll Keep On Holdin ON PArt 2--but they pull it off! I'll follow Wnada anywhere-Motowns most haunting, sexy voice. 6)Playboy---a zenith girl group record--Gladys puts it over with her usual urgency. 7)The Hunter Gets Captured By The Game or Dont mess with Wanda! 8)When Your're Young and in Love--Wanda really stretches-should have been top 10--should have had other Marvelettes on it. 9)Too Many Fish In the Sea--great fun tho maybe they still should have recorded Where Did Our Love Go and we'd all be yakkin about them and not the Supremes! 10)Dont Mess With Bill--a classic to this day. Wish there was a Smokey(Bill) and Wanda duet! |

I've always loved the "Pink Album". Each song is a winner to me! I have that on CD with Sophisticated Soul when Motown issued some 2-fers back in the 80's. One of my favorite CD'S. I wish "In Full Bloom" would come out on CD. |

Actually, JIMY, we do not have one =but= two MARVELETTES' song differences!! Oh, yes, we do. How about: "My Baby Must Be A Magician" vs. "Forever"? Ironically, both songs have wonderful WANDA ROGERS as the lead singer and I luv "Forever", too. Nonetheless, after seeing our uncanny -- almost 'theatrical' -- similarities =and= believing U that U didn't virtually copy my other "M" list, I'm closer to forgiving U for: (a) previously attempting to throw shade at me because I can spell and U can't; (b) your declaring "marv" as brilliant because he excessively and bitterly stated that the D.R.S. "RTL" tour was interrupted because of not enough million$ of $$$ (no kidding!); and (c) because, as U know, U have the same namesake as M.R.V.'s song "Jimmy Mack", and that of my smart, beloved and good-looking Siamese cat, Jimmy Mack (yesss, MARTHA has seen him; have a pic of her holding him). Likewise, my other cat, Quicksand. |

That might just be a total coincidence! Maybe he named himself after Chicago's Jimmy Mack, who recorded "My World Is On Fire" in Detroit? Or maybe he named himself after L.A.'s soul producer Jimmy MacEachin? Everything in the World doesn't revolve around Motown, you know! |

Jimmie Mack, excellent idea! The next cat will be named "Live Wire". Especially as that is the name of the deluxe MRV songs collection. Believe it or not, that name had been considered, as had _______________________. Now, I have 3 cats!!! All great and lively and well-behaved. Guess which MRV song is the 3rd one (the kitten) named after? I had no real choices from THE MARVELETTES. except "Postman", "Bill" and "Marionette". ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------ Robb the K: What's doin'? I didn't 4-get about U. How do I know J.M. was named after the M.R.V. song? Because he has posted that and acknowledges that. Bi the way, dear, why didn't U ask him?! When U fly into NYC fairly soon, too bad it's not for more than an hour or so way, way, way OUT at JFK Air.

Hey, Gymmie... When are U comin' back? No doubt, very soon. Stonewall slipping? U are funny. I like dat. U know, actually, J.M., Stonewall was smokin' -- as in trying to "smoke" U out on that one. So, why don't U tell us if "J.M." is for the song or not. Otherwise, how do U expect people like Robb the K and me to be able to fall asleep tonite not knowing dat. C'mon, Jimma. It's not like U'd be giving your social security number, home address or personal telephone #. Though it would be good if SDF did have some members' registry so that we'd know if we were talking to an 86-year-old straight woman or a 17-year-old Gay boy and whatever in between (like U). Answer: "H.C." another great and considered choice but not it. Don't worry (not that U are) but U will get it. I doubt next time either. Oh, and it's no trick answer. U rightly assumed that the song is an "A" side single. U know me well enough to know that I would never name one of my pets after just a "B" side and worse yet, an album cut! |

Topic: THE Marvelous MARVELETTES.... "Listen Here, Girls" "SDF": I already pointed out to Jim A. Mac that it's young WANDA singing "Forever" on my post above on 12 May @ 7:30 p.m. He gets mixed up sometimes and has many indiscretions (as he admitted above). No wonder he couldn't tell the difference btw. "G" & "W" on "4-Ever"! Also, "Don't Mess With Bill" is luved so much by me. It's not my #1 "M" song; however, in my mind and heart it is the one that brings back the fondest memories, including playing the song real loud on the a.m. radio while driving my Mother's new Mustang! Toni with an "i": Could U list rather than s-p-r-e-a-d your hits list? It's would be much easier for US to read and we can appreciate your choices more. Tanx in advance! One of my friends in L.A. was asking for your brother. Oh, here's that "list" example: L..."Postman" I..."Fish" S..."Bill" T..."Marionette" Gym Mack (U know why I deliberately misspell it): It's time for U to guess again my #3 cat's name from an M.R.V. song. P.S. - Meow to Margaret! ALL: Imagine how much more excited we'd all be if THE MARVELETTES were gonna be on M-45 on Monday eve? Like U, I am very disappointed that they won't be on stage or even in the audience. However, no doubt, we will see them in film clips. "Wait! Wait a minute!" Yeah! Sorry Stone, please place "Too Many Fish..." in the #6 spot and drop off "I'll Keep Holding".I love the Marvelettes since I was 10 in 1961 so its too hard for me to list just 10 songs.I love the early LPs where its just them singing on the tracks also the LIVE LP from '63 where they do "Tossin & Turnin". |

Hey, Jimmy Mack. "Ultimate" is available on my website for "cheep". The two CD's I own are, "Deliver The Singles", which is out-of-print and "Essential Collection" which has a lot of rare tracks along with a few hits. I've still got that one available at my shop but not the website. Write me at: lenny@cdornotcd.com if you're interested. |

Topic: Miscellaneous un-related to THE MARVELETTES Toni with an "i": We did much better with CANDY & THE KISSES! What are U talkin' about? U only have 10 songs listed. No cofffeee yet this morning? Or swamped at the office? I would never say boo! (hoo!) if someone listed more -- or less -- songs than suggested. U are funny! What I meant is for U to please list the songs up and down not across in sentence form. For example, see the kool lists up above of SDF, Bless U and Lenny. It's just easier for the Boarders to read in column form. Well, at least U gave me a laugh. Thanx! Oh, bi the way, the one asking for your bro Randy was Spookie (of L.A.). Actually, it asked me if I knew him. I said no, I only know of U! And, that U and my Mother and friends were at the same historic, fabulous D.R.S. "RTL" concert in Fla. 3 years and 10 months ago. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------ Mr. SDF: I could not possibly call someone "handsome" who I never even met. Besides, U would get me in big trouble with my B/F, a body builder, who works out in the gym 6 days a week! How about Mr. SDF? ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------ Gymmy Makk: When are U comin' back -- to THE MARVELETTES Board? Hey, Windy, "...everyone knows it's Windy". Anyway, I'm not gonna go there with dat word "windy", butt.... #1 - Thanx for your warm and witty note. #2 - I agree U are friendly (and smart); don't yet know about the "good-looking". #3 - I don't want my B/F doin' the O.J. on me; with blue eyes, red is not my favorite color. #4 - My B/F does not allow me to ass-ociate with slutty Spookie. #5 - I e-mailed the tramp (Spookie) and ordered her to fork over a pic of U (she can scan it and e-mail to me). If it's good enuf, I can always post it. If I want U for myself, I won't, of course. #6 - Spookie has been told to get back on the SDF Board asap or I will "86" her and, trust me, she doesn't want to cut off this life-line! #7 - Have U seen any pix of me? Bonus: What song of THE MARVELETTES would best describe U? If it's "Marionette", U can pass. Tanx!

Progress in the name of THE MARVELETTES: * What's blowin', Windaye? * You're well-come, too, Mr. Mann. * "Windy" can be a male or a female -- human or animal. * "Bashing" Spookie? That's not what she calls it, if U know what I mean (and I think U do). I agree with your description of her as "poor". * Your Q-5 is a good one (ha-Ha). Why do people go looking for a new car when they aleady have a car? Same answer! * Never saw a pic of Stoney? I thought perhaps U may have gone to my website (with loads of pix of me) from one of the 100+ times that I have proudly posted the weblink on the current Soulful Detroit Forum Board and on the S.D. Archive Forum. * I guess U wanted a "Special Occasion" invitation. Well, now U got it! * If U were dancin' on my street, U'd know me. * What album is "Everybody Knows (Butt U)" on? That response sounds very interesting and inviting. Where and with who, if anyone, will U be watching "M-45"? I'm doin' this little (unwritten) survey of certain interesting people. U are the 1st -- maybe the last! (Message edited by STONEWALL on May 13, 2004) |

No Jim-a, the "posts" crossed in cyberspace. I think it's very nice of U to be jealous of that "Windy" guy -- especially with the moniker he uses. Have U ever seen a pic of him? Well, at least we all on this file have a special affection for the THE MARVELETTES. Oh, no, the cat's name is not "Wild One" -- another great guess. Next! What is "MArvs" (sic) or is that another one of your many typos or spelling errors? Anyway, I never heard of it and do not go to any "Yahoo groups". No way! I've heard they are very intense and crayzee and in some cases have led to murder! Who's your favorite comedian, besides me? And, no, I'm not on "meds", tho it's a good question as I'm sure many on the internet boreds are on hard drugs, booze and/or meds or do their posting from a prison or ajn insanusylum. I know from horrified eyewitnesses who met some of the clowns from that closed Ho-town Bored that many there were literally off the wall and bombed out -- not all crayzee, but way too many. P.S. JM, when U say near Manhattan, what do U mean?

Mr. Windy Some: I had no idea your schedule was so bizy butt how would I know? Can U say what U do or is it something.... well. Thanx for answering the other 2 tidbits. Progress is always welcomed. That trampy slut ho puta Spookie hasn't responded yet; butt she will -- and this eve, trust me. U gonna tape "M-45"? C'mon, Wyn. U'd think U'd wanna see it as it's happening. Butt, U can always report to the Board later in the nite if that's the case. That "BUTT U" version U referred to was not recalled by me as Ann was on lead. I like my remix "Butt" version better. When U come to NYC, I'll play it 4 U. [Your comment about my re-mix very clever. U miss nothing, as I hoped!] Now I gotta go read this d*ck Mack. I thought he meant that perv Merv -- not the girlz. Yo, J. Macky, don't play psychologist and try to insult me with bogus psychological assertions. I thought U were referring to an X-board creep named "marv" or "merv". So there! I know U'll apologize as U are not a creep. Dizzy sometimes butt not creepy. Also, I thought it was only Drag Queens that used cutsy wootsy lil' nicky names like "Marvs" for Marvelettes and Shangs for Shangri-las, etc. Oh, well, now we know. U are! Hey, that's kool. U can come to my M-45 gathering as Betty Kelley [She sang on the song "Jimmy Mack".] Time for your next cat name guess: _____________. (Message edited by STONEWALL on May 14, 2004) |

Knock! Knock! The Boy Next Door? Hello? Knock! Knock! Boy? Never mind about just asking about the "Pink Album" a.k.a. "THE MARVELETTES" -- a purr-fect album -- butt let's also remember "The Return of The Marvelettes" (w/ Wanda + ? + ? = "M" -- on the galloping horses w/ the wild West hats). That album is beautiful and very satisfying. With WANDA on all the leads, how could it not be? Remember, as The Marvs sang, "The Day U Take One, U Have To Take The Other". Learn it, Boy! Notice =to= MOTOWN Records: Put out a two-fer c.d. of THE MARVELETTES including "The Marvelettes" (1967) and "The Return of The Marvelettes" (1970). Also, another "M" two-fer c.d. of "Sophisticated Soul" (1968) and "In Full Bloom" (1969). "After All" (by The Marvs), post-M-45 show, more of the public's gonna be burnin', yearnin'. |

Yes Stonewall!! You're so right about "Return of The Marvelettes".....Wanda was the sexiest voice of Motown. I Love that LP. I only wish it was on CD. I also love Sophisticated Soul with Ann Bogan, who is back living in Cleveland, Ohio. Do happen to know if the Andantes were also used on that LP? Somehow, it sounds more like the three of them than the Morman Tabernacle Choir in the backround. Whatever....love those Marvelettes! |

Knock!..... Oh, Boy, thanx for answering your door! I was hoping U didn't think it was that "Playboy (Stay Away From My Door)". I think he's now w/ Dyva Naya! Anyway, a musician friend of mine who works for Motown in Manhattan verified through reliable sources just last summer to again re-confirm that THE ANDANTES were only with WANDA on "The Return of The (Marvelous) Marvelettes". In fact, it was also verified (once again) that it was originally more likely that the album would be the debut solo album for Wanda! I'm glad -- as are U, I'm sure -- that they continued The Marvs' legacy. Remember, DIANA went solo only several months before and MARTHA would go solo less than two years later. From that "ROTM" album, I most like the re-doing of the two SUPREMES' songs and the one VANDELLAS' song ("Make-up"). Motown did, too, as they released "Breath-Taking Guy" as a single. "Someday" does not compete with DRS' version as they are two totally different approaches. It's like the two "Grapevines". Personally, I like The M's version even better as it is danceable. P.S. - From a prior post up above, I asked the derivation for your moniker, like a song. Maybe Judy. Or just the cliche -- or what? (Message edited by STONEWALL on May 14, 2004) |

Stonewall: The moniker (whatever) is from the Secrets "The Boy Next Door". They're one of my favorite groups from Cleveland, Ohio! Love that song. Are you familiar with it? I believe the same guys who recorded them also recorded The Pixies Three. |

Knock!.... Greetings, Boy. I'm glad U rang my bell! "A" to "Q": Yes I am, Boy, and yes he is, Boy! Right now I'm still fumin' -- if your computer starts emiting smoke, it's okay -- it's from me -- that M-45 is not having THE MARVELETTES. The 1st #1 million-selling record girlz belong on stage!!! The plot thickens. M-45 folks had actually contacted GLADYS HORTON first, with the idea of rounding up 3 M's for something "live" on the show, even if not performing. U know, wonderful WANDA is not well at the moment. The communication was actually going back and forth. Well, as recently as the day before the event (Sat., 3 April), my favorite Gladys actually called them back =again= and this time someone in the production company stated that they were already overbooked with classic Motown artists!? "Please Mr. Producerman". Wait! Wait a minute! www.STONEWALLvets.org/songsofS tonewall-8.htm

Stonewall: Hmmmm. Gladys and whatever Marvelettes could appear.....should appear on M-45. Perhaps Wanda (bless her heart) isn't up to the task, but, Gladys is and should have been there!! Once again.....idiots at the controls! Bah Humbug! Oh, glad your heard of my girls....The Secrets! |

Knock! Knock!..... "Hey, There, Big Boy"! Well, the worst with "M-45" happened. They ended up not having even one classic Motown girl group on "M-45": No SUPREMES group (yet w/ SCHERRIE in the audience, row 15); no MARTHA REEVES & THE VANDELLAS (LOIS & DELPHINE) yet they were at the actual event, applauded, performed, standing ovationed and filmed, and slated to be on the show -- including in ads; no MARVELETTES (even tho GLADYS HORTON, KAT, et al. ready, willing and able); and no VELVELETTES (Xtown has attested to CAL & the galz also ready, willing and able). So, the musical medium that greatly helped make Motown famous and rake in the hundreds of millions of dollars were all ignored and/or dissed big time. Shame! Shame! Shame! Shame!
