Cheaper at CDUniverse. "Not Now, I'll Tell You LAter" is such a fun song. Heard one of Eddie's leads (not a familiar oldie) on the radio, and it sounded soooo good. |

Does the CD artwork look plain to you? Maybe they will improve it by the time it hits stores. The track listing looks awesome, though. |

I thought the same thing about the artwork. I expected to see an outtake from the TCB photo sessions. When I saw this cover on Amazon, I thought that it was possibly just something to post until the real artwork was done. |

Yeah I don't have a problem with the artwork...I wonder if they will reprint the artwork from the original albums in the liner notes? Or some rare photos from when they performed together? For me, that would be a treat. (Message edited by LadyMystique on April 18, 2004) |

I think artwork is okay, however both groups have better pictures in the Motown catalogue. The Diana Ross and the Supremes picture is interesting because it is one of the few times I have seen Cindy in the middle of the group in a picture. Normally, Mary stood in the middle. |

Pic reminds me somewhat of New Ways cover of Supremes album-kinda cheesy- which Mary disliked and wanted that dramatic shot of them with Afros and black background. Like Cindy in middle as well. |

Somewhere someone said that "Not Now, I'll Tell You Later" with the Temptations singing and the Supremes singing backup was recorded in 1963 before David Ruffin joined them. This person said that the Supremes were in the studio waiting to record something else and sang backup. I can't seem to find the original posting. Now someone else claims it was recorded after David joined the group. Does anyone know when it was actually recorded? |

According to Harry Weinger (in ICE magazine), the song was recorded in 1963, with the original members of both groups. If this is true, David isn't included,as he didn't come on board until 1964. |

I ordered the CD from Amazon and now have it. I am listening as we speak. The unreleased cuts seem to favor Diana Ross and the Supremes as Diana does a lot of the leads. Love Mary Wilson's solo Can't Take My Eyes of You and Amen. |

Re: "Joined Together"/House & Home Dep't Lovey Child, U want DIONNE & LUTHER, honey? U got 'em! When I get the appropriate chance, "Mister" Child, I will relate SOME of when DIONNE and I first met in Fire Island -- in Cherry Grove, no less, not known for its Mormon tabernacles! And when I get my house storage "OUT", I'll post a picture or two of LUTHER and his boyfriend and me. Also, I have one with MARTHA REEVES, Luther Vee and me at the opening of the N.Y.C. Motown Cafe. I intro'd him to her. "Oh, yes I did." And before U ask, Florida Olay, U can have Go-GLADYS, too. See how nice the S.D.F. is, Lovey? I'll take DIANA, EDDIE, PAUL, MARI, DENNIS, OTIS, CINDY and MELVIN (bi the way, and in that order, anytime). Those are the 8 on that song, as U know! And 1 of the 3 who is not here physically, I miss greatly! Luckily, he left me more than enough memories while he was here. Now, L.C., I didn't say that DRS&TT's "AHINAH" was the BEST version ever; I didn't even say it is the one I like BEST. Butt... I will now: it is! U don't always have to COMPARE, dear. This is not the "Home Shopping Network". After all, look at "The Grapevine". Over MPG and GKP's great, yet different, renditions, I prefer SMOKEY's version. Now, if U believe that "different from the rest", I'll tell U another one. See, I'm back! Of course, U missed me... because U know that "A House Is Not A Home". Okay Stoney, retract the claws, there is no need to break out the vaseline and the gem blade. Jeezuz. LOL. All I said is I meant was I prefer DIONNE's or LUTHER's. The DRS & TEMPTS version is iight, but not all that. "Cute" try but no cigar IMHO.

Hey Stone Love, I have an early CD from the early '90s that's a compilation of some of The 70s Supremes' and Four Tops Duets, but it's long been out-of-print. Hopefully Motown/UMG will revisit that catalogue soon and re-release a new version along the lines of the recent Supremes/Temptations CD. Anything's possible. |

"Love Child" - "never meant to be... always second best.. different from the rest...." Like they say at the zoo, Lovey: One animal's claws is another's orgasm! I was givin' U some very interesting, personal experiences and events that I have had with singing stars that U like. So what's the complaint? Nada! Other people on the Board like sharing "411". It is data that U won't find in "The Star". I didn't know that a photo of MARTHA REEVES and LUTHER VEE with me would bother U at all -- much less so much. So, don't break a press-on nail over someone offering to show and share. Evidently, U are not used to that. And as THE SHANGRI-LAS sang, "And that's called sad". Instead of saying "Don't pull out the vaseline and the gem blade....", U could have said to pull out something else. I don't know what a "gem blade" is. It must be Miami street terminology. Considering I was mostly discussing photos, that would be the pictures to pull out. Thus, U could have said, "Stoney, I look forward to seeing the pix". That's all, Lovey. But no, U grossly overreacted, funny as it was to me. Obviously, from the time I sent U the nice and embracing note, "a bee must have flown in your bonnet". Stoney, nowhere in my post did I mention anything about your photos with Martha Reeves or Luther Vandross. I was discussing the Supremes/Tempts version of "A House Is Not A Home" and how I preferred Dionne Warwick's and Luther Vandross' versions over that one. Your photos do not bother me in the least. LOL....the "gem blade" reference has nothing to do with Miami, I've only lived here for 4 years. That reference goes back to where I was born and raised: The "X", The "Boogie Down" or as it's more commonly known: The Bronx. But if you want to post your pics go right ahead I would love to see them.

"Bronx Child", U're kidding! That's great. I did not know -- how could I -- that U were from da Bronx? I was on the #6 (J-Lo) yesterday. Thinking about what U wrote yda (which really was so funny to me) I actually laughed out loud "maybe once or twice" right on the train. I luv analogies to animals. Usually, I make mine about fish. My favorite MARVELETTES' song, of course, is: "Too Many Fish In The Sea". It's ironic, too, that when I wrote my comment last night about the "zoo", I was gonna say the BRONX zoo but I figured maybe U never heard of it. Ha-ha-Ha!!! (now). One of my "Special Occasions" also moved from the Bx (Kelly Street) to Mi-Am-I. I still miss Gregory so much. I was thus in the South Bronx enough -- when it was tough! What I was saying, LC, was that U COULD HAVE mentioned the pix, not that U did. U were into "the claws". I must get those pix OUT as the Soulful Boarders would luv them. The Bronx! No wonder U catch all my "asides" besides the frontsides. U'll be glad to know that the Bronx Boro Pres. is a supporter of the S.V.A. He knows me since he was first elected. We helped in that success. When are U comin' to NYC next? I know when U should come and so do U. Think about it. ------------------------------ ------------------------------ ------------------------------ -- "Joined Together" w/ the 2 versions of "Stubborn Kind Of Fellow" -- especially the mono -- proves that M-town should have pushed that song. I think it's great, lively, harmonious, very Motown, etc. Plus, as it's flip, it had "Try It Baby", which they strongly considered releasing as its own "A' side previously. "SKOF" was out in the clubs, U know. P.S. I'm sure we continue to confuse people butt not each other. P.P.S. Madam LUTHER is on "Oprah" tdy; 1st appearance since...! LOL Stoney...wassup....Is the Bronx Boro President still who I think it is? If it is that's great that he supports S.V.A. it's a great organization. I used to shoot pool at the Stoney every once in awhile and I have mad peeps who go out there to hang out on Latin night. I may go in June but it may just be August because next week I'm off to the motherland of Puerto Rico. My dad and mom are the reasons I love Motown so much, they were big fans. My dad (RIP) was a BIG Temptations and Marvin Gaye fan. My mom always loved Di and The Supremes so I have an extra copy of "Joined Together" I'm taking down with me for my moms as one of her Mother's Day gifts. |

Hi Goys,I got the two disc Sup's and tempts' cd last weekend. 'Sing a simple song' and 'Got to get you into my life' and 'AMEN' and the 1st side 1st track 'medley' are the outstanding cuts to me.It's great when they throw Ms Mary into the mix. a lovely contrast to the sometimes whiney sounds that can permeate the grooves. I am so grateful for each and every re-release by these lovely legends. Ms Diana was quite the hard worker with all these seemingly endless stash of recordings. I'd be home lighting up and getting down with pride .such notable accomplishments. more, more, more...bring them on. I'm saving my pennies!...Now get to Ms Martha Reeves and her endless catalogue of unreleased treasures.YUM! |

"Tenement Slum... cold, run-down tenement slum... born in poverty... never meant to be..." I just wanted to remind U of yesteryear and yesterU, Luv Chile. Don't go ape! It doesn't mean that I think that U lived in a tenement or a slum or poverty even if I think U did and U didn't or even if U did and I think U didn't. All aboard the #6. "Destination: Anywhere". No, Freddie Ferrer, a.k.a. the Hispanic Groucho Marx, is no longer the "X" Beep butt he is the X-Beep! No one on this Board will get that (unless they're from da Bronx) except us. And, as a special treat for a good girl... ooops, oh, that name "Love" and "Child" together throws me -- sounds so femme -- anyway, Hey, Mister (now that reminds me of LaDONNA's "Bad Girls" --"Hey, Mister (beep! beep!)"), here's dat treat: U can see a photo of the X-Beep and Me! on the S.V.A. website at: www.STONEWALLvets.org/parade/S W-29.htm. U will get such a kick out of this. U'll also see the "Stonewall Car". And, we're in "reverse" rolls. Fernando (who knows me 20 years) is in the car behind the steering wheel! I'm on the outside (w/ very blond hair). U can't miss us. I believe U know what both look like already. And, the new (two years) Bronx Boro Prez is tall and good looking and smart and friendly -- yes, he knows and likes me; says I am very for real and a lot of fun -- is named ADOLPHO CARRION. So, when U come up -- if U want -- U'll let me know ahead and I'll arrange for us and a few of the SW-Vetz to have a meeting w/ him up on the Grand Concourse. A meeting with "AC" will be due then anyway. We can drive there in the 1969 Cadillac "Stonewall Car'. Ironically, U and I are giving our mothers one of the same gifts: "Joined Together" c.d. by DRS&TT. I asked my Mother if she would like it? She said: "Well, I like THE SUPREMES =with= DIANA ROSS but I don't really know THE TEMPTATIONS that well". U know I'm gonna win this one, don'tcha Lovey Chile? I then said: "This c.d. has "A House Is Not A Home" on it". My Mother asked, "Are U going to send it today?" I said, "No, tomorrow". She said -- in Florida! -- then I won't have it for Mother's Day. I stated "Oh, yes, U will. I'm sending it express mail". I'm also giving my Mother for "M.D." the c.d. "DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES Sing ROGERS & HART", including one of my favorite songs, "Manhattan". Alllrite! Sorry for U to read that your father is deceased. I wish mine was. Now, I remember U playin' pool at "the Wall". Only kidding, of course. I wouldn't know what to look for. Is there a pic of U accessible? Anyway, at my urging and that of many others, the S.W. finally got rid of that big pool table and put in nice sofas for folks to sit and chat and whatever. My argument to them was that it was unauthentic as the original Stonewall Club did not have a pool table -- plus it took up too much damn room, LC. Of course, when U come up, we will be going to The Stone with the Stone. P.S. Your old Board "burnt up"! Too bad 4 them. And may their transition to hell be a nightmare! |

"One of my...."? Hello, my =only= disliked D.R.S. song, mainly because they mistakenly didn't have D.R. on lead! One of my X's, Robin, called it "The Truck Stop Song". Alllrite! It's gotten so bad, LC, that when I go to the movies, I can't even eat "BP" any more, thinkin' of dat "song"! Speaking of crayzee, that Supremely Screwball Bored has so many whacked-out characters. Whadya expect, it's da drag 'net. I've gotten some e-mails (since my e-mail address is always posted or linked), as it is here on S.D.F. (how about U?), asking like how dare I, etc.? Fahgedaboudit! There are people over there that think SMS doin' "Ding! Dong!" is better than REE REE singin' "Respect". Lovey, U made me very happy knowing that we're both giving our mothers m-u-s-i-c for "Mother's Day" -- especially Divine DIANA. I'm adding a third c.d. for my Mom: "D.R.S. The #1s". She always luved "I Hear A Symphony". I played it at home enuf. I believe her 2nd favorite is your favorite and my 3rd or 5th, "My World Is Empty Without U, Babe". Changing stations on the dial, on that Bored-86 matter, U can always e-mail me. U sho 'nuff can't viz dem! Dey are down for da count. Others there will be switching here. Sometimes, "what goes around comes around". So how did U like the pic of Fernando & Me? Oh, my S.D. Board pal Spookie also "speaks Spanish" (my lingo for...). S/He'll be back again soon! What about a pic of U, querida? The current edition of "Pumping Iron"? See updated: www.STONEWALLvets.org/upcoming events.htm P.S. I still laugh at that "claws" comment. I luv it. It's hysterical. Gracias!

Oh, Jiminy, please, every record store has "Joined Together". U must have been in the "Country" songs dep't. I've been at Fye Records several times since the c.d.'s release a couple of weeks ago and they always have 20 to 30 copies. They confirmed to me that they are keeping it well-stocked because it is selling. I've bought 5 so far. Two for me and 3 for special gifts. Remember, music is the gift that keeps on keepin' on. Use your imagination. |

Lady M, I just got my copy and the "Choir" (DRS&T) is cutting up on "Amen". Cindy sounds good. The opening medley is nice also. Handsome |

I've had the CD for a couple of weeks. What I realized was that the Temptations were in their vocal prime and The Supremes sounded "tinny" and weak voiced except on several exceptional cuts like Try It Baby, I'm gonna Make you love me, Try Something new... This Guys in love with you...and Stubborn Kinda fella...etc. Overall a good solid CD of Motowns finest. |

Just wishful thinking here... It would've been nice if TCB/GIT was a 2-fer, and include all outtakes. I know that TCB is out on cd. From G.I.T , I enjoyed DRATS singing, "Summertime/It Ain't Necessarily So", though it wasn't on the album. I also loved the Tempts doing the Fiddler On The Roof Medley, in particular, "Sunrise, Sunset" The harmony is awesome and Eddie shines as usual. The song "Rhythm of Life" (from G.I.T.) is on the latest DRATS anthology. I like that song too. Handsome |

Yeah, I also like the unfinished production on YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE/YOU KEEP ME HANGIN' ON. It is different, but cutting edge at that time to slow down the tempo on the latter. I wish it was left in! |

Stonewall...I for one never refer Diana as a RAT. It just so happens that the acronym is as such (the first letters of the name of the group). If it offends you, I apologize. (Message edited by ladymystique on May 20, 2004) (Message edited by ladymystique on May 20, 2004) |

It kills me when others feel the need to tell others how to go on about their business. If someone wants to refer to them as DRATS let them. There's a war going on and people are worrying about nonsensical things like abbreviations being used on a message board. |

Thanks Marquise. Stony, thanks for your opinion. Where is it written that typing DRATS is disrespectful? NOWHERE! Unfortunately that is your interpretation. By the way, not that I have to explain myself to you, it was MY abbreviation. And while we're on the subject, Do I comment to you about your special spelling & use of words, for example, the word "but" is "butt", and your various innuedoes & ambiguties you constantly spread across the threads throughout the board...NO! Have a stupedous day! Handsome |

Afternoon All! I would very much love to see D.R.A.T.S. get together at least once more. They certainly would have gave energy to that farce of a show. I think that they totally & unnecessarily dissed M.R.V. & they should be ashamed of themselves....EXTREMELY ASHAMED of themselves!!! Juice |

This CD has had strange distribution....one copy in a major establishment, and then 10 copies in smaller retailers. At least its easy to spot on the rack with the stand-out colors! |
