Hi this is Kev-Lo you know through the years with the Temptations after David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks they've had great replacements such as Dennis Edwards and Ronnie Tyson, but in my opinion Damon Harris was the best and closest tenor to sound like Eddie Kendricks. what do you SD's think about that. |

Kev-Lo I completely agree with You! - Damon was so close to Eddie, but perhaps just did not have that suttleness of EK! Though like Eddie - Damon did raise the hairs on my neck a lot |

Hi KevLo. I completely agree with you. I would also suggest that you check out Damon's later work in 1976/7 with IMPACT .. produced by a certain Mr BOBBY ELI .. after he left THE TEMPTATIONS. It is very similar to the fine work that EDDIE KENDRICKS recorded in Philadelphia .. "He's A Friend", "Going Up In Smoke" etc. This will add further weight to your theory! Roger |

The Impact album was and is in my opinion one of the most enjoyable projects ever given to me, and a producers dream. Sometimes I would close my eyes in that candlelit atmosphere and think that the Tempts themselves were out there in the studio. Their harmony sounded as though it was sung by angels straight from heaven. Atlantic records had no idea what they had in Impact, therefore they would have made it the smash that it deserved to be. |

I absolutely agree that Damon was fantastic and the closest thing to Eddie in the Tempts without Eddie himself being there... |

John, Now I hear that the Sons cd is SUPOSED to be released in late June. I spoke to WSM about the possibility of Impact and the Major Harris My Way album, which would be nice if approved by the powers that be. |

Hey KevLo ! Good topic my brother ! I totally agree. Damon Harris was the closest tenor to Eddie Kendricks. When I first heard their cut, " Superstar", man I swore it was Eddie Kendricks ! But Eddie had left by the time they recorded the song and it was Damon's first hit with the Temps. Peace, Mike Boone (Chancellor of Soul) chancellorofsoul.com |

You mean that was Damon Harris on that song?! Learn something new everyday....hey Chancellor, any chance of you doing a story on the transitions that took place with the Tempts? The different 'players' over the years? |
