Use Bambu; it's easier to spell! Brenda Mae, U sho 'nuff help to keep this Board lit-up. Luv it. At one time I was with a Bored that many on it needed to lite up -- or have a lobodomy -- and failed to do so. Ugh! And borrring! In contrast, I hope U are like M.R.V.'s album: "Ridin' High".

Information question about the Bambu? Greetings, again, X-town. I always "suggest" to ALL Boarders to MENTION THE NAME of whom U are addressing in a post. Allrite, in this case here it isn't really confusing but it sho 'nuff can be and has been on other files. Regards to THE VELVELETTES! Did CAL or any of the V-girls go to the "M-45" performance event on 4/4? Was there any contact w/ them via the show's producers or visa versa? (Message edited by STONEWALL on May 09, 2004) |

Stonewall....don't get me started on that one - I am still a bit sensitive that the ONLY original Motown group still performing was not asked to perform on Motown 45. Not to worry though, the ladies are coming to perform in the UK where they will be appreciated for their history. I have to say that the Velvelettes were not ignored by ALL of the people working on Motown 45.....only the guys at the top that made the final decisions. Cal took it very well, much better than I did.

John Xtown.....well, at least, "M-45" was in contact. U are posilutely 100% correct about the ONLY original Motown group! The producers should have gotten the still very current drift, too, such as the music of THE VELVELETTES recently featured on the big network NBC t.v. show "American Dreams", including having impersonators of The V's -- really the ultimate form of flattery. And they made sure to have a celebrity not a no-name portray Cal. |

I'll keep this brief but it just seems so bizarre to me that putting on M45-and the public loves classic Motown--u wouldnt have the Velvelettes etc etc at least invited. Wouldnt it have been great for us and for these human beings who need affirmation as we all do to have announcer say--Ladies and gentlemen we wish to introduce and celebrate the following Motown artists: ______. It would have meant so much to them and to us and taken all of 2 mintues. (Wanda,Kim,Gladys H, Brenda,Cal,Bertha,Kat,Mildred, Elgins,Jimmy, Norma,Annette, Roz,Betty,Bobby...) |

Luke I can only echo your words. If I wasn't so mad with them about it, I would have personally paid for Cal to get there to get her righful dues. I can assure you that I was pushing for Cal to attend (and she doesn't know this) from when the idea first got under way but I failed. Miserably too. I am not proud to admit it either |
