I think Usher has a very good voice - better than most of today's so-called "R&B Singers" However, The material is not my style at all though. Overly commercial and higly formularized if you ask me (LOL but Usher surely wouldn't do that!!) |

I agree K-Bee. Good voice, not great. Very commercial and not my taste either. But if he get's his cash then it's good for him. |

There is a very interesting article on him in the current issue of Vibe magazine. It might give you a little more insight on the young man himself. |

Everyone else on this thread has already summed up the way I feel about Usher. He's a great dancer with a mediocre voice. What more can you ask for in a music industry where "artists" like Britney Spears, Ashanti and Justin Timberlake are considered talented? Has anyone else heard Usher's new smash hit single 'Yeah'? I understand that it's a song for the clubs but I'm not sure what this track is offering from a vocal, musical or lyrical standpoint? It's just a synth and beat machine track with Usher and his flunkies screaming "Yeah, Yeah!" over and over again. Disco music got (and continues to get) a bad rap but a hell of a lot more musicianship and talent went into making Disco than songs like 'Yeah'! Oh well, young folks love Usher and songs like 'Yeah' so who gives a damn about people that want real music like me! |

Absolutely Rod - I totally agree about the "Yeah" single. It sucks and makes me think of Master P!! (which is not a good thing) However, I do believe that with the right material Usher would be capable of more than just commercial teen idol stuff he currently is doing. Wonder what would happen if people like Gary Taylor did some writing / producing for him. Bet the music would be quite good but the album would probably sell like 10 copies LOL. LOL and BTW...disco is still my first love!! (that might change in 10 minutes though LOL) |

YEAH is a club song period...I heard it at a club recently and it definitely is. He is not my favorite singer, but he sure can move (although the moves remind me of MJ)! I read the article in VIBE magazine...he has been through some growing pains of his own indeed! (Message edited by LadyMystique on April 17, 2004) |

I read this week in an interview with Usher that he may be playing Marvin Gaye in a bio movie. |

Shawn - I love YEAH too! That's my jam! In fact, Usher's entire CD is nice. My favorite songs are "Let It Burn", "Confessions, Pt. 2", and "Yeah!" |

Usher already played Marvin Gaye on "American Dream," the TV drama series centered around Dick Clark's "American Bandstand." |

I'm taking my friend's 16 yr old daughter to see him at Wembley arena in July. I must admit that I'm very open minded about him - the songs that I've heard I HAVE liked. It will be interesting to see him perform in front of his fans, and I'll report back to you all after the event. |
