Hello again, Soulful Brothers & Sisters! Recently I acquired the CD "The Spirit Of Philadelphia" and I'm fallin' in love with "Now Or Never" by Little Dooley, fantastic deep voice and also good "wesmontgomerian" Norman Harri's guitar. As tolds the linner notes, North Bay was a label that search unknown artists and launch it after in the main labels of G & H (PIR or TSOP). Some of these artists was Little Dooley, The Family (MFSB!!) and also Talk Of The Town. If the whole catalogue by this label got the same quality, i'm wondered wich other artists featured and also if is avaliable some re-edition with those material. Somebody knows? Manny Thanks Peace & Soul Food |

Because of the recent untimely passing of 'Broadway" Eddie warhoftig who was a major partner in North bay with kenny gamble, the masters remain in limbo as of this posting. There is someone who I know who is interested in releasing a North bay cd but its beenlike pulling teth trying to get the rights. |

Many thanks for this precious info, Mr. "Electronic", Is double sad, because the passing of Eddie and also because this frequent problem about the rights... I think how many equivalents to "Now Or Never" gems (houndreds? thousands?...) can be in this limbo situation! BTW, you remeber some more act in North Bay appart from the three I mentioned? Thanks again! Peace & Soul Food |

Hi Manny. North Bay used to be one of my obsessions, until a lot of my singles disappeared!! I believe there were only about 12 releases, and some of those also came out on other labels .. For example I have a copy of "Now Or Never" on the "Red Ruby" label and "I'm a winner Now" by EXECUTIVE SUITE was re-released ( and became an R&B hit ) on the "Babylon" label. Other releases on the label I know of include "Tell Love Hello" by THE MELLOW MOODS ( nice slow female ballad ), "Family Affair" and "Do The Robot" by FAMILY (later re-named MFSB). And YES .. I would be first in line to get all of these on C.D. Roger

Now I remember you says one time you are also a lover of the Gamble label realises. When I think in a possible edition of a CD Box with all the best sides on Gamble, Neptune, North Bay, Tommy, etc. with rare tracks by Intruders, The Butlers, ... I dream it! As says the Northern Soul Circuit "militants", KEEP THE FAITH!! Peace & Soul Food |

Manny. "Family Affair" by FAMILY I still have on a North Bay 45. The "B" side is an instrumental version of "Nation Time" by THE EBONYS, that later got released as a 45 on Philadelphia International, backed with "I Believe". As far as I can make out it is the same backing track used on both records. Roger |
