I know this will be a little off-topic for some folks here, but I feel obliged to pass on the sad news. Sir Coxsone, arguably the greatest name in Jamaican music passed away yesterday at the age 0f 72. He owned the legendary Studo One label, and had a lifetime career in music which began back in the mid-1950s. Most of the major Jamaican stars of the sixties and seventies made their first records for Coxsone, including the Wailers, Burning Spear, and Lee 'Scratch' Perry. The Skatalites were the Studio One house band. Sir Coxsone was still active in music, and died as he lived - he was working in the studio that very morning. Ironically, Brentford Road - location of his legendary studio - was renamed "Studio One Boulevard" in his honour, just last Friday. |

I have just seen this thread as I haven't been online in a while...RIP Coxsone. I agree that he has contributed greatly to reggae music...he will greatly missed. |
