Having just ordered the Rhino Collectors Hand Made CD of "Windows of The World & The Valley of the Dolls" I wondered if we will ever get a Superb Quality CD Box Set for The Lady DIONNE WARWICK

I know there are that many budget three CD Hits Cets for Dionne and that many collection CD's but not the real thing!

Has anyone seen a copy of her book yet? "My Point of View" with the Special Collector's CD, with some new tracks on it and some HIT tracks re-recorded.

It is about time also a New 2003 or 2004 Concert DVD Performance is released, again you can buy so many cheap budget CD's of Dionne.

Regards John

Hi John.

I agree with you totally. I remember this was brought up on an old thread some time ago.

There should be a DEFINITIVE Dionne Warwick collection spanning her Scepter, Warner Brothers & Arista years. JMO..SDF!

So far, her book is only available via a foreign website. I ordered it months ago, but have yet to receive it.

There is also a concert dvd and cd of her 2003 appearance at the Syracuse Jazz Festival. The legitimate release is called AN EVENING WITH DIONNE WARWICK, and is released on the (i think) Union Square label and dvd co. I think these were only released overseas.

In edited form, this same concert can be found on a dvd entitled DIONNE WARWICK-FOREVER GOLD. There is also a cd called GREATEST HITS which is taken from this concert. However, the songs are all in a different order from the Union Square release. I think this release is on the Twin House label.

Thanks Reece for the DVD Info - I have ordered the book from a store in Europe, who had it in stock, and was much much cheaper! than the website, they said I should have it in 5 days.

I'll throw my hat in the ring again on this one. Having recorded so many great songs (classics) for so many labels (Scepter,Warner Brothers, Arista) and having been in the industry over 40 years, the lady is LONG overdue for a box set. I have written Rhino twice and both times was informed, "We're looking into it." The licensing and collecting the masters for this project must be difficult. All we can do is wait and see...

Reese,

I receieved the DVD yesterday from 2003 - An Evening with DIONNE - forget about the rain and it was just as she was in Manchester last year!

Good quality sound and filming, a bargain at just over 11 here in the UK

Yes indeed, it is weird that some of the greatest names haven't yet got the recognition they so rightfully deserve...
And while we're on the subject, let them know that we want more photos in the booklets...
Like this fabulous one...

Reese,

Received my copy of the book "My Point of View" this morning from a store in Europe.

Some lovely colour photo's of DIONNE which makes it so classy! - some of the black & white pics well they are not the best, would love to have seen omore photo's but it is in what is known as the coffee table format. The CD has four tracks on it, it is more like a CDR copy? with just her name and titles printed on on - and it is just in a paper sleeve, stuck in the back cover. The cost of the book it could have been at least a inside back cover with a space cut out for a CD.

On the website it is $66 for the USA which is a lot of money and ???? well, I am glad that I got it much cheaper than they offered for the UK direct from the German manufacturers.

Still LOVE DIONNE though!

John

The Burt Bacharach box set includes two of my favorite Dionne songs, "Odds and Ends" and "Paper Mache", which I never see on Dionne Warwick collections. The sound is great.

By the way the tracks on the CD with the DIONNE WARWICK - MY POINT OF VIEW BOOK are:

What a Fool Believes

If I want To

In Between The Heartaches

Bold and Beautiful

A nice little CD Sampler! - THE LADY sounds as Good as Ever.

Hi John:

The tracks you mention are taken from Dionne's last two studio albums DIONNE SINGS DIONNE and DIONNE SINGS DIONNE II.

Of the two, the first is definitely the best. It was issued in the USA on the River North label. Dionne was in great voice, and the songs included remakes like REACH OUT FOR ME, as well as great new songs like IF I WANT TO and the theme from THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

To me, DIONNE SINGS DIONNE II wasn't as great. It has its moments. But most of the songs sound as if they are leftovers from DIONNE SINGS DIONNE. To my knowledge, this album was never released in the USA. I bought an import copy off Ebay.
