Hello, I'm looking for information on Cha-Tok records. I know that Spyder Turner was involved...what I'm really looking for is info on a record by the Stereophonics called "Run on Little Girl." A friend of mine spotted it in my collection today and said it might be worth some money. Can any one help me out...The record is in very good partly glossy condition. |

I love that disc! The group had another 45 on a sister label - Mas-Tok - called "Don't Leave Me." "Run On Little Girl" has a raw garage sound, and was probably cut in the Master studio on Joy Road; there's a photo of the building here somewhere. The names Charles Stokes and Ronald Holmes are probably on the labels - Charles was married to one of the singers in the Stereophonics. Another member was married to Eddie Kendricks. The group also recorded a song in New York which is a stormin' Northern number (Roaming Heart). I'm not sure how much your disc is worth - you'd really have to see how it sold on ebay, as estimates could differ wildly to what somone would actually pay for it. |

Yes Graham, those names ARE on the labels (Both as writers, and with Stokes as producer). |

There isn't a real demand for the Ster-Phonics Cha-Tok 45, but it still should fetch up to 100 from the label/Detroit collectors. Aswell as Cha-Tok and Mas-Tok, there's also the Mas-Ter label...additions welcome: CHA-TOK 1001 - DeWIGHT (SPIDER) TURNER - YOU'RE ALONE - HAPPY STORY CHA-TOK 1002 - THE STEROPHONICS - RUN ON LITTLE GIRL - I WANT TO SHOUT MAS-TOK 65 - THE STER-PHONICS - DON'T LEAVE ME - YOU KNOW I LOVE YOU MAS-TER 65-1 - SPIDER TURNER - CALLING GIRLS - PART.2. MAS-TER 65-5 - DON HEART - SOUL IN THE BACK YARD - BRING BACK THE LOVE MAS-TER 66 - THE CHANNELS - YO YO - INST.

I am currently considering trading it for a group of other related disks with the same friend/S.D forum member who first pointed out its significance. If he is not interested in the trade ...I should know by Friday...I will be interested in parting with it. |

Flynny, the other Mag record I know is: Mag 4063/4064 The Chanels Dance Your Troubles Away Four Walls (and a Radio) BTW, I did see your note asking for the title of my Liz Lands Jobete acetate. As soon as I find it, I'll let you know. (Since I'm preparing for a record show and sifting through oodles of records, I hope it will only be another day or two).
