Chancellor,
Im taping into to your vast knowledge of music and being 'deep into the soul of' it to get the 'goods' out of you in line of information about the following:

I was digging through 45 and some albums this weekend and rediscovered the following -

"Born Free" - The Hesitations

Quite frankly they could have made that thread I created called Brown Eyed Pop...

Who are they, and what is the story on them?

In some of my 45's I have found such 'unspoken about' artist as:

Calvin Arnold
Prince Harold
Howard Tate
Freddie Hughes
Cash McCall

Im not sure about albums and information about/ for these folk (except Howard Tate)and other music too, but Id like to make some purchases. Give me a background if you will, Chancellor.

more later...

Thanks
DyvaNaye

Hey Dyva,
The Hesitations are from Cleveland, Ohio and
came together as a singing group in 1965.
Basically, they were known more or less as you
called in your terms, " brown-eyed soul". They
signed on Kapp label in 1967 and recorded their
first LP, " Soul Superman". It wasn't until a
year later in 1968, that they got their first
hit with Andy Williams hit, " Born Free", in
January of 68'. An LP entitled, " The New Born
Free", was released a few months later. The
Hesitations' two other cuts including, " The
Impossible Dream", and the Ed Ames hit, " Who
Will Answer". Sadly, the lead singer,George
King Scott was reported shot to death in February
1968. He was already dead when these songs were
released. The group disbanded the year.
My favorite cut by them is on the "The New Born
Free" LP, " I Wish It Was Me". The harmonies on
there is out of this world !!!! Two more LP's
were released, "Solid Gold" and "Where We're At".

Take care,
Mike Boone
