Phil, It was a Duet with Jackie Moore of precious , Prescious and a song called seconds. I replaced him with Wilson Pickett because of a disagreement with the label. |

I recently purchased the video Johnnie Taylor Live at the Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas,Texas from 1997. What a concert! Johnnie was singin'! There was also a duet with his daughter on the song "Ain't That Lovin' You For More Reasons Than One. A true legend and a one of a kind voice. |

Too bad, Bobby, I'd have loved to hear Jackie and Johnny singing together. BTW, has Johnny Taylor ever sung with someone else ? I only have his Stax LP's, produced by the great Don Davis, and I don't think there's any duo. (???) |

R.I.P. and Happy Birthday JT! The man left so many great recordings behind! My favorite is 'Somebody's Sleeping In My Bed' on Stax. |

Hello, Johnnie Taylor did do some duets with Carla Thomas, the one that comes to mind now is a song he did with Carla called "Just Keep On Loving Me", and there was "Soul-A-Lujah" with Mavis Staples, Carla Thomas, Eddie Floyd. and the late great Johnnie Taylor. I am a big fan of Johnnie Taylor from his days with SAR/Derby to his last album with Malaco, and I can truly say that he is missed sorely in the Dallas/Ft. Worth community. T.L. Harris |

You're right, T.L., I've just checked the double LP "Boy meets girl", and I saw that Johnny sang three songs with Carla Thomas, and one with Mavis Staples,"That's the way love is". An entire LP of both together (Mavis & Johnny) would have been great ! |

Johnnie Taylor replaced Sam Cooke in the Soul Stirrers and sings lead on "The Love of God" and several others. I remember having a lot of fun with "Who's Making Love" when I caught an old boyfriend cheating. Sang that song with authority when it came on the radio "in his face". Johnny Taylor was speaking for us women cause we used to sing "Cheaper to Keep Her with such authority as well. LOL! |

The Love of God, Out On A Hill, When The Gates Swing Open are songs that JT sang lead with The Soul Stirrers. Johnnie also followed replaced Sam Cooke in the group the Highway Q.C's. I think the first song I remember playing by J.T. was I'm Changing from his Wall to Wall album on the Malaco because that was his current hit at the time. Had a lot of fun with all those songs as well....LOL T.L. Harris |
