I just saw the title for the Charmaines here. Does anyone remember a song called Please Dont Kiss Me Again--I love the lead voice on that--as I recall a stronger Diana-ish female voice. Was it the Charmettes? Was big in Philly/and maybe NY area -1963 ish.

Yes, it was The Charmettes who sang "Please Don't Kiss Me Again"/b/w "What Is A Tear" on Kapp (Records) 547. They followed that up with "Oozi-Oozi-Ooh"/"He's A Wise Guy"-Kapp 570. They were written and produced by famous Girls Group producer, Kenny Young. I think that their best record by far was "Sugar Boy"/"(Preacher Man)Stop The Wedding" on World Artists 1053. It was produced and written by Young and veteran Girls Group writer Barry Resnick. I think I have one or two other singles by them on small, independent East coast labels, but they are ordinary. To me, "Sugar Boy' is one of the very best girls group records of all time, notwithstanding all the great Philles, Dimension and Red Bird records.

The Charmaines
what a class act(andthensome)

for me anyway
if were talking about the same group that backed up Gi Gi on Guilty....etc
there Eternally is a great dancer
plus others
but one that is still a great mover is the (at one time on)a
April and Blackwood Acetate
titled
'standing in the need of love'

then again in a collection from years ago of april/blackwood acetates were also
The Ambers/funny face girl
Van McCoys various cuts including
'sing yeah,yeah'
plus
chris bartleys
standing in the need of love(another cut to charmaines)
etc etc etc

so all in good company
and still sound the real deal today

'The Ambers/funny face girl'

Didn't that turn out to be an unissued Chancellors track, as in the Cap City act?
