I have just had a mate over
with various 45's etc....

and he gave me a copy of some unissued tracks on a tape that he had done for me.

Can anyone tell me if any of these 45's have been released at some stage please as they may well be old tracks as its a while since either of us have been out and about etc on the scene.

60's Soul sides.......

Ben E.King-gettin' to me-Unissued Atco.

Dean Courtney-Today is my day-unissued RCA

Willie Kendrick-she'll be leaving you-unissued RCA

Bettye Swann-I think I'm falling in love-Money unissued fast version.

Delfonics-you'll get enough-unissued Philly Groove

Jesse James-love is allright-Unissued Harthon
Weldon do you know about this at all?

also featured are these instrumental cuts.....

Hesitations-thats the way love is-Kapp backing track.

Thrillers-Detroit city soul-Groove City.

appreciate any info regards any of these on cd or whatever.Have they been released?

many thanks
mel

Hi Mel!

That's What Love Is is a track from the Soul Superman album by the Hesitations. Is this the same track?

Best regards
Heikki

"Gettin' To Me" by Ben E King is released but the version I have is different to the one issued.

The series issued some time back on Clyde McPHatter, Drifters and Ben E King made reference to the date of the studio recording.

Mel,
The Thrillers - Detroit City Soul, a track with probable connections to Harthon records, Weldon might be able to confirm this though.

Apparently it's an unissued acetate, but was booted around 74' ish, you are probably already aware that it was the Instrumental version of Bernard Williams 'focused on you'.

It can be found on CD, Goldmine GSCD 132

So, "Detroit City Soul" is really just a Harthon track which was on an acetate (If it, indeed, was the backing track to "Focused On You". So, it has NO connection, whatsoever, to Detroit!

Hello everyone.

Mel ..

That JESSE JAMES - "Love is Alright" track has also been released by Goldmine on a C.D. It was on one of their "All-Nighter" ones.

It must be the original of the original version of "The Horse" by CLIFF NOBLES ( Which was the instrumental of Cliff's version of the same song ).

I also think that that BETTYE SWANN track is on a C.D. of her "Money" recordings. I shall have to retrieve it from "The Vaults" to check.

Dear Mr.BoyfromXtown,

Interesting...in what way does your take of 'Gettin' to me' differ to the acetate version, as used by Kent?

Kind regards,
Mr.Anoraks Corner ;-)

Interesting...am aware of the two Debonaires' takes...was always under the impression that GTM only survived on the single Mirasound acetate, being absent from the Atlantic family tape vaults.

You live and learn. :-)
