I never thought that I'd say this about Elton, but he's really got a huge pair of topflites to stand up & speak out about this. I wish that more would state the truth. I will further add that I sometimes wonder whether these celebrities have tin ears. Last week, Mr Manilow gushed over every contestant. Likewise Gloria Estefan this week. Paula, damn near every week. Though I can understand why she would pull for those with less vocal talent... OHH! BADA BING!!!Now, I'm no professional & I can tell when folks are "pitch" challenged. Just a tad off & in some cases, waaaaay off. If I, a humble ex DJ can hear these flaws, why is it that these learned professionals can't? I'm so tired of them telling me what a great performance I heard when it sounds nearly as bad as William Hung. Why can't they simply be honest? The other annoyance is that when one of the judges point out obvious flaws, the crowd boos? Simon started out as a smart ass, but, these days he's been on point. Maybe if these fools in the crowd had to buy the CDs, they'd be more honest in their assessments. It's a noble idea gone wrong, with the credibility of professional wrestling. Oops, that might sully the name of wrestling. It's become a crock! Juice |

I'm a little confused. There are people posting about results of last week, but it was this week that John was voted off with 4 million votes. As for where the other votes are...I would think the rest of the votes were pretty evenly split among the other five contestants. It seems as if no one is actually getting the bulk of the votes as may have happened in the two previous seasons, making this year's Idol a much tighter race. Remember, we are never really told who got the MOST votes, only who got the least. As for me, I would rather not know who got the most votes; that'll keep me hanging in until the final episode. As for John getting ousted last night, c'mon -- we all expected -- many hoped -- that he'd be gone. Those who didn't, they are entitled to their disappointment, too. We all have our favorites. If LaToya were voted off, I'd be spittin' mad since I voted something like twenty times for her, but that's the way the show goes. I don't think there's anything underhanded regarding the voting process at all. It's just the way it is.

Sis, Your math is just saying that five remaining contestants received at least 4 million votes a piece and then split another 4 million between them. Keep in mind that people can vote multiple times (just like in Chicago!) for multiple "candidates", and it's not that unreasonable. As for this week's results, I was neither shocked nor appalled that the two lowest vote getters where male. Maybe I'm just naive, though, and the vast female conspiracy will take over the world before my eyes are opened to the danger. Regards, Ken |

I'm somewhat sorry that I missed last nights show, I would have loved to have seen "Reds" face when he got the boot. However, I still think the voting process is a sham and the show should be revamped. I was out last night listening to "real" singing with a real singer, jazz singer Cassandra Wilson, what a pleasure. |

Hey SoulSister, Yes Gregiore was there playing that mean harmonica and looking as fine as ever, he was fantastic. The band was wonderful, consisting of Banjo and Guitar player Brandon Ross who is also Cassandra's Musical Director. The percussionist Jeffery Haynes rocked, he played an instrument from Brazil that looked like a stereo speaker. If anyone on SD knows the name of that instrument, please post the name. I had never heard or seen anything like it before. Also included in her band was Bass player Reginald Veal and Drummer Lance Carter. I had a wonderful evening including dinner at the West Indian Restaurant "Mo Bay". I can still taste those ox-tails, collard greens and cabbage, yummy! |

Livonia Ken - You called the female shot the other day. The finalist on the first show was Wfemale/Bmale. The second show was Bmale/Wmale. Now, I guess the third show will be Bfemale/Wfemale, or Wfemale/Bfemale. We'll see. |
