'There's no house with out a home...and there's no man who wants to be alone...'

Look, Gerald Alston just kicks butt. He put his DNA on that group. And that album? Baby maker classic.

Hey Dyva;
Whats up? That was Gerald's debut album. I particuly liked "I Wish That You Were Mine", "You Better Beleive It", "The Day A Robin Sang To Me" (written by Kenny Kelley), & "Thats TThe Other Side Of Me", of course "There's No Me Without You"!
On the "Thats How Much I Love You" album, my faves are "Don't Take Your Love From Me", & "A Change Is Gonna Come". Gerald can throw down thats for sure and does a thrilling live show!!

hi kev-lo;
Glad you got the CD, judging from your taste in music I think you'll like it. Seems like all us NY-NJ folks like the same thing. Did you go to Felix's dance saturday night? If so, who was there, anything interesting happen?

CHANCELLOR!!!! I have those two LPs & they are great. Wish that You Were Mine is one of the greatest songs ever. Even though it's about cheating, cheating never sounded so sweet. Don't Take Your Love From Me, There's No Me Without You & You'd Better Believe It. I think that was my first real exposure to The Manhattans. I was all of 13 when that one came out.

These brothers belong in the Hall Of Fame, they still do not get the credit that they deserve. It totally pisses me off that most of America only knows them because of Shining Star. They're missing out on a lot of great music. But, then again, isn't that how it usually goes???

Hello Chancellor.

I purchased this twofer about three weeks back. Its all great stuff, "You'd Better Believe It" is one of my all time favourite "Philly" ballads ( Have had it on a U.K. CBS 45 since 1973/4!! ).

However what I would really like is for them to reissue the "Million to One" L.P. of their DeLuxe material. I used to have this on the U.K. London label, until it went "walkabout".

The "That's How Much I Love You" L.P. contains at least two tracks that were on this .. "Blackbird" and "Fever" .. which is a start, but I'd love to have a nice clean copy of their immortal "One Life To Live".

Roger

An uptempo version of "Don't Take Your Love Away" was on The Whispers' "A Mother For My Children" LP.

Hi Dyva;
I should have said:
"There's No Me Without You" was their Columbia debut in 1973.
"A Million To One" was Gerald's debut on Deluxe in 1972.
"That's How Much I Love You" was released in 1975.
At any rate "Smut" does kick azz:-)!
Take Care,
S.S.

That Million To One LP is one my favorite
Manhattans LP. Hey Roger! I agree, it should be
released. That whole LP is a smoker !!! Hey what's
up Juice ! I don't know how many times I played
Wish That You Were Mine, lol. But my cuts on that
LP, are, "You'D Better Believe It", The Day The
Robin Sang To Me", " We Made It", " Wish That
You Were Mine", and of course, " There's No Me
Without You". You're welcome, KevLo.
