Good Evening im alittle concerned or I should say alot concerned with how expensive it is to live in southern california now... you can't even get a single in southern california now... without paying $800.00- $1000.00 if you want to live in a pretty decent area. This place has to many stupid laws... get this if you are from out of state you will get a ticket for driving with out of state license and you may have only been here for less than 5 minutes I can understand if after the cops stops the person and finds out it has been over a year or two but not 5 minutes but it doesn't matter if im wrong please enlighten me but i haven't heard anything any different so far about this law and many other crazy california laws,I use to make a decent living but now i have to go back to school because my degree puts me in a certain category so now at my age im going back to get a masters, for cryin out loud. And the gas prices or insane. I feel like i should just walk around with my hands up because this place is robbing me like crazy. and the poor troops,I saw this bumper sticker which read atleast nobody DIED behind clinton @/!$#

I used to live the southern California. The cost of housing is nuts. The cost of livng is just as nuts. The traffic/congestion unbearable. Drive by shootings all too common (even in nice areas). The fear of earthquakes, fires, mudslides always present. I was so stressed out about all the above who had time to notice the sun sunshine.....which wasn't as wonderful as I thought it would be. I'm glad I tried it though, it made me appreciate the mid-west like I never did before. I'm able to live on a golf course now and work partime. In southern California....I had a very expensive crappy little house and could barely make ends meet working 6 days a week. Glad to be back home!

At times I have toyed with the thought of leaving California after living here since 1978. I honestly don't know if I could tolerate those long Winters back East anymore. Monterey is nothing like the madness of Southern California, but it certainly is expensive to live here.

I certainly understand what you all have expressed
about Southern California. The Northside of Chicago is the very same way, especially when it comes to an single apartment is roughly a thou. In the 80's which use to run about close to 5-8--9 hundred. The parking is so bad is if you move your car from where it's parked you'll lose it.
I feel bad for any one that has had a hard days work and has got to drive for hours and hours and hours to find a parking space. If one lives in an apartment building and has their own space reserved, fine, but that'll cost too along with the rent. I feel sorry if someone'll park in someone's reserved parking, if someone does their will be tow and a heavy fine will be added. It's gets even worse, when the street sweeper truck has to clean one side or boyh sides of the street, and every one has to move their cars, and when this is in effect they'll be ticketed just because they cars are parked there where they had to originally had to move them from.

Etc, etc, etc, on & on & on.

I'm about done with So Cali myself. My son is 14 now. I've been thinking of moving to France. I like the small towns in the southeast. Life seems to move at a much slower pace. The people were friendly, unlike the Parisians.

If there is anyone of the SD forum who lives in the area of which I speak, please contact me. I'd like to investigate.

peace
