I was glad I got to see both David Ruffin and Eddie Kendricks on the tour with Martha Reeves & Mary Wells. The DVD of the show filmed at the LA concert is just great & I watch it alot. I saw the show LIVE in Tampa, Fl. and they drew a big crowd(6 to 7,000).Eddie & David were in fine voice and both were in good spirits after the show.I always loved Eddies' manly falsetto and his was the lead voice on the first Temptation 45 I ever bought "Paradise" which is still one of my favorites.Wierd that Mary,Eddie & David died in such close proximity(time-wise). |

Hi Juice and Tony. Thanks for posting in my thread and commenting on Eddie Kendrik(s). I'm new to SD, but only as a poster. I have admired most of you from a distance for a very long time. About Eddie Kendricks. I saw many shows at the Fox Theater in Detroit (Motown Review) with David, Eddie, Paul, Melvin and Otis. I always loved Eddie singing "The Way You Do The Things You Do" and "Get Ready". I agree Juice, I wish he could have remained with us a little longer because he was a truly gifted artist. Yet, in all the Temptations books, movies, etc. there is very little said about Eddie. Perhaps he was a private person. But I wish more was written about him. Thanks Juice and Tony for the props and the post. Best, A- ______________________________ ________________ http://www.hallandoates.de/ima ges/Temptones%20Dangerous%20da nces26.jpg Daryl Hall (Temptones) and Eddie (Temptations) |

What can I say about Eddie...the man exuded class and sophistication in addition to his phenomenal talent. Met the man in 1982 and never forgot it. He was the nicest and friendliest person you'd ever want to meet...and he loved his fans and gave them the highest respect! He had a beautiful smile and that gorgeous face to go with it. We will never see the likes of him again in the industry... Eddie, I love and miss you with all my heart. http://www.ejk-online.com |

What could I say about Eddie AKA Corn, or as I call him...the gentle voice of the Temps... I just LOVE his voice! I was in high school when he passed and only remembered that he was in the Temps and the Sun City album (with David Ruffin). Never did I realize that he was also on his own. I started my research on his albums, but couldn't find any...hopefully his legacy would force the record companies to release his albums! I LOVE his slow songs (Can I, Home of Johnnie Mae, If Only For One Night)...sensual indeed, but he also ROCKED on the funky stuff (DATE WITH THE RAIN, BOOGIE DOWN, KEEP ON TRUCKIN')! I wish I could have seen the last concert tour with him, David, and Dennis prior to his passing. But, he remains missed and loved by me (a big fan). RIP Eddie! Hey...record companies...PLEASE re-release his classic albums! |

Eddie was a great singer. In his day, I think he was underrated. However, people are now realizing what a talented singer he was. He could go from his falsetto to his natural tenor without missing a beat. The man could sing! He may no longer be with us, but his music will live on forever. RIP Mr. Eddie J. Kendrick(s). |

I feel that Eddie's two greatest & most underrated solo songs were Each Day I Cry A Little & Intimate Friends. His performances of these songs were so elegant & understated. He displayed a sense of quiet yearning & Each Day should have been huge hit on its own merit. As for Intimate Friends, it's only one of the most sensual songs to be recorded on vinyl. No histrionics, just a straight forward declaration of love & sensuality. Equally great are Never Gonna Leave You & A Part Of Me. All of these songs are perfect for love & love making. Mr Kendricks at his best & few have ever done it better! RIP Eddie & thank you for the memories! Job well done Juice (Message edited by Juicefree20 on April 29, 2004) |

I guess the son doesn't sing. However, someone in the family wrote me that he had three children, two sons and a daughter and all loved music. |

Juice...all I have is EDDIE KENDRICKS (w/KEEP ON TRUCKIN' on it), BOOGIE DOWN, GOIN' UP IN SMOKE, HE'S A FRIEND, and VINTAGE '78...I also have that CD. Been scouting around for them, but haven't been lucky. I do have a list of all of his LP releases! Also, I want the RUFFIN AND KENDRICK CD or LP released sometime in the 90s I think. I heard it once and I thought it was great! Also, you have named some of my favorite slow jams from him...I also like SKIPPIN WORK. |
