Does anybody know the whereabouts of any of the Jackson Sisters? They were a female answer to the Jackson 5 and recorded "I Believe In Miracles" for Polydor/Prophesy in 1973. I wish to track them down to interview. If anyone has any information on the group I would be very grateful. many thanks |

Hi Chasfunk, I have a Japanese CD re-issue of their album, but unfortunately the liner notes are in Japanese! I did a Googlesearch and found a gospel group called the Anointed Jackson Sisters-doubt if they're the same girls, though. It's a nice album, anyway. Eva |

I am the proud owner of an original copy of their LP on the Tiger Lily label, but they made many other sides not included on their only album... Here they are (I have a few others!) Wonder B (Message edited by Wonder B on April 27, 2004) |

Hey Wonder B: The Jackson Sisters are one of the records that are considered the "Holy Grail of early 70's record collectors. The Tiger Lily label is not the first company they where with the original press from what I understand, they where on Prophesy Records first. The Lily at least to my understanding was released at a later date and may even be a boot??? Not sure, but I believe Prophesy was 1st issue with them, even your press release photo had Phrophesy on it. I know that Polydor was a label that they where released on at one time.

Many thanks to you folks who've contributed so far. All I know is that The Jackson Sisters were discovered by Bobby Taylor, who had considerable input at Motown with early Jackson 5 recordings. Taylor co-wrote and produced "I Believe In Miracles." It was released on Prophesy in 1973 - but I also have the song as a US Polydor 45 from the same year. They also recorded a few 45s for MUMS. All the 45s turned up on the Tiger Lily album, which legend has it, was withdrawn after a few promo copies were pressed (hence its scarcity). Johnny Bristol also produced and wrote for the quintet. The album turned up on CD (though poorly mastered) in Japan in 1996 and is also available in a vinyl pressing (probably a bootleg). I would particularly like to get in contact with any one who knew or worked with them. many thanks Chas Funk |

Yes I know the Jackson Sisters had recorded a lot of stuff before their one and only LP on Tiger LIly It was made popular back in the early 90's in the UK by the release of a 12" on the Urban label with their most famous track : I BELIEVE IN MIRACLES Then everybody was looking for the unbelievably rare LP... Here's a scan of the cover for you... Wonder B If you mess with the 'fro, you gotta go! |
