Does anyone know a video that has a clip of Martha and the Vandellas in the Rouge plant, going in and out of the Mustangs as they sing "Nowhere to Run"? It originally aired on a Murray the K national TV show on CBS, but parts of it have popped up on other shows. |

Sue: The "Nowhere To Run" video was aired on a TV special Murray the K hosted and produced for CBS-TV in 1965 called "It's What's Happening, Baby!". Murray the K's estate has licensed the use of the video to many documentaries regarding rock & soul music (as well as the folks at Research Video). I saw it on the "Motown 40" documentary that aired on ABC-TV in 1998. Here's the link to Murray the K's website - his son oversees the estate and may be of some help. http://www.murraythek.com/tv.h tml Kevin Goins - KevGo |

I believe it is also featured in the video GIRL GROUPS-THE STORY OF A SOUND. That Murray the K TV special was intended to encourage kids to stay in school. So many artist were featured-- Marvin Gaye, Mary Wells, the Miracles, Patti & Bluebelles, the Ronettes, the Supremes, the Temps, etc. The Supremes are doing "Stop..." outside and are in a mustang convertible, I believe, at the beginning of the song. Miracles, Bluebelles, & Dionne Warwick are actually on stage at the Brooklyn Fox |

John, I can never get the clips on that page to work. Is one of them from the Rouge plant?

Great clip, John. Thanks! Sue, open your Windows Media Player and find a way to paste the URL address for this clip: http://www.sixtiesmotown.co.uk /nowehre_to_run2.wmv I don't know why wmv clips don't automatically play when you click on the link, but you can certainly paste it in while in Windows Media Player. |

Sue, I'm not from Detroit so I'm not familiar with the various plants, but they're singing Nowhere To Run in a Mustang convertible as it's going down the assembly line. |

John C, Yes that is the Rouge plant. The Rouge is where they made Mustangs. |

It worked at home! Very nice, as I remembered it. I remember when I saw the show as a kid, the actual full-length segment took them all the way through with that one Mustang, and it was "finished" as they sat in it ... What they show on documentaries is usually just a snippet. |

Whoever thought of filming this there? It was a great idea, wasn't it? Showing the completion of a mustang while performing an entire 3-minute song--genius! |
