I have a liking for horn bands. The Buckinghams, James Cotton's first Verve lp's, and the like. But my collection is slim. Outside of James Brown, can someone recommend for me a good soulful "Show Band" or "Revue" style lp with strong horns? Remembering i live in a cultural wasteland, it's got to be orderable by the local mega-box. Thanks in advance. doug |

Hello Douglas. I would suggest Earth, Wind & Fire, The Ohio Players, The Commodores, Kool & The Gang, Paqrliament/Funkadelic, B.T Express, Brass Construction, Tower Of Power, Rufus Fea Chaka Khan, Chicago & The Average White Band for starters. Juice |

Juice.... .....I guess i should have defined the question a little further. Most of those I have. I'm looking for something a little "deeper", or not so obvious. Maybe someone I've overlooked, like Brass Construction. Who or what are they? doug |

Douglasm: Give these groups a try; Tom Scott, The Fatback Band (Let's do it Again) lp, JB's, Nite-Liters, Strutt, early Kool & the Gang lp's somewhat, Titanic, Manu Dibango, LTG, Miami, Ladies & Their Gentleman are a few that come to mind. |

Thanks guys.... .....TOP and War i have also. I was looking for something a little less obvious, and i'll give your sugguestions a try. What triggered this is that we're moving, and in packing the record/cd collection i came across a Chris Daniels And The Kings CD i had forgotten about, and it reminded me how much i like the show band sound. doug |
