All day long I have had The Main Ingredients 'Rolling Down a Mountain Side in my head...particullary the verse 'we're just stones, rolling down a mountain side, we all count and weve got strength and we've got pride, God is on our side'... Which bring me to start a thread about R&B that preaches hope and inspires joy...acknowledges God or scripture reference... Some songs like this include; He's a Friend - E.K. Going Up In Smoke - E.K. Mighty High - Mighty Clouds Shame on the World - Main Ingredients You Brought the Sunshine - Clark Sisters Fall Down - Tremaine Hawkins I will acknowledge the fact that all of these are toe-tappers...and dance material...LOL. "I have Sinned' - Oral Roberts

Hey Dyva, I'm looking for that steamy ballad by Jimmy Swaggart called Born To Love Her. I heard that he actually testified & broke down crying on that one. Heard that he cried more than Lenny Williams. I didn't think that was possible. I also loved the flip side titled: Oops, I Did It Again, So Please Forgive Me One 'Mo Time. He cries on that one too! Wasn't the song "Amen" written for a Sidney Poitier movie in the 1960s by actor Chester Hairston, who later played in the sitcom "Amen"? |

Uptight: Yes, Chester Hairston did write "Amen" for the film "Lillies Of The Field" that starred Sidney Poitier (Sidney won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1964). I would like to add the following songs: "For God's Sake Give More Power To The People" - Chi-lites "We Are Neighbors" - Chi-lites "We Need Order" - Chi-lites "There Will Never Be Any Peace (Until God Is Seated At The Conference Table)" - Chi-lites Kevin Goins - KevGo |
