Oh yea just to say hi to everybody and introduce myself proper. My name is Adam. I moved to Detroit specifically that I could better investigate the cities musical heritage. SBS, re. United Sound... I was doing some record hunting way up north and found a huge junk shop with a lot of rekkids. I found three 78s on the United Sound Systems label. One was called "Satanic Blues". Visions of a Robert Johnson-style Detroit affair were dancing in my noggin...I couldn't wait to get home. A couple days later I was at the old homestead and before attempting to unpack or even put my food in the fridge, I slapped on "Satanic Blues" and experienced the worst white dixieland jazz imaginable. Nothing else I found that week could make up for the disappointment! The only redeeming feature of the USS records was the labels, they're absolutely beautiful! I wish they would have put as much care into the music they recorded. | ||
