'Tracks Of My Tears'... and one of the most exciting records ever.. '(Come Round Here)I'm The One You Need' Gotta admit tho.. whole albums at once.. can be too much.. Barry |

Hey Chancellor .. One of those "Top 5" threads on the old forum was about Smokey and the Miracles .. I never posted on that, so after some thought I've come up with the following .. 1 - "Mickeys Monkey" 2 - "Fork in the Road" 3 - "Oo Baby Baby" 4 - "My Girl Has Gone" 5 - "More Love" Its a difficult choice though, as at their height (1963-67?) virtually everything they did was GREAT. I'd probably have "Tracks of My Tears" as first reserve, although I must have heard it thousands of times ( its one of THOSE tunes here in the U.K.) I still get a buzz every time I hear it. Roger

There's too many to name. But my absolute favorite is WHO'S GONNA TAKE THE BLAME, written and produced by Ashford and Simpson. |

...sho you right , playa! LOL. And your list, Chancellor? I dare you to keep it below '10'. LOL. Who's Loving You Being With You Ebony Eyes (with Rick James) Tracks Of My Tears Ooo Baby Baby - more than Smokey, the bass line in this is the bomb. Tears of a Clown Shop Around - same 'shindig' show, the steps they did...priceless... Come 'Round Here - Chancellor, what is the flip side of this? I loved that too... More to come....it just aint right MB-COS...lol... 'betcha cant eat just one!' (you cant...just like picking a few Smokey jams that are favorites)LOL.

Hey Soul Sister, I'm glad to see you are posting. I read a thread here on either the old or the new forum where you said that you haven't gotten a chance to read your copy of Chicago Soul yet. If you do you will find some interesting things there. I'm having a bit of trouble because I use to have a copy. Can you look under Ruth Moore, Bob Lee, Pate Productions, and Small Entrepreneurs (and/or) Neighborhood Scenes. And you might find what I was saying all along, see for yourself. Oh, yes, The Vows has always kept Mr. Jimmy Scott's biggest hits in their rep_____. Love Sis Don

Hi Don; Thanks again for the 411, but the reason I haven't read it or many other soul books & bio's is they are buried in one of my 30 storage boxes that are stacked up in our garage & basement recording studio. I don't intend to unpack all that until we move out of Cleveland! Good to hear from you Don. Take Care Always, S.S. |

Believe it or not, SDers, but I never started to Smokey and the Miracles until I was 11 years old. I heard his name on documentaries when I was around six but I never heard his music. Then I heard "Tears of a Clown". Once I heard that song, I was hooked. I just wanted to hear that song over and over again because even though the song is sad, it had a cute little tune to it. |

LoveChild, you are correct. That is probably my favorite Miracles song. For being such a blockhead & not mentioning it, I will punish myself by listening to Yoko Onos Greatest Hit. That's right, Yoko Onos Greatest Hit. She had no Greatest Hits to speak of. Hell, she had no hit to speak of. I'll probably listen to her version of Beautiful Boy from the Double Fantasy LP. Nah, that's not punishment enough for forgetting a classic like I Second That Emotion. I'll probably listen to Walking On Thin Ice. Especially the shrieking break part. If that don't learn me, nothing else will: YIKE YIKE YIKE YIKE! Damn, that's downright masochistic! (Message edited by Juicefree20 on April 29, 2004) |
