You all must RUN out and buy the DVD boxed set of The Richard Pryor Show. It contains all 4 episodes that were aired, as well as The Richard Pryor Special. But the extras are what make this set so great! You get a complete Roast of Pryor(about 45 minutes) by the cast members at the end of the four episode run, where Richard apparently "outs" Paul Mooney in Richard's own inimitable way. PLUS, you get a complete, never before seen stand-up set by Richard, where he does Mudbone for about a half hour!! Cockeyed Junior, Miss Rudolph....they're all here! This is a must for all SD Forum members. Jim |

This as well as In Living Color are my next purchases for the week. I'll never forget this show, especially the eating scene. Man, I wish that his Saturday Night Live bit with Chevy Chase was on this. That was classic, I think that it's great that someone finally put this out. Now, if we can find out who has all of those episodes of "Soul", a great music show badly in need of resurrection! Juice |

The special alone would be worth the price of this whole set. Regards, Ken |

Am I remembering correctly that this is the show where Richard Pryor had The Pips as a guest musical act? No Gladys Knight, just The Pips, by themselves. They performed the backing vocals to "Midnight Train to Georgia" and during the lead parts, put a spotlight on an empty microphone, while The Pips did their usual song and dance in the background. It was one of the cleverest things I ever saw on TV. |

I remember the skit he did with Maya Angelou as the wife of Willie The Drunk...she preached her poetry to a tear jerking climax... |
