Can anyone tell me if I can retrieve lost postings. Have just sat here for an hour typing out a load more 45's to the Detroit/philly/chicago thread. And all just dissapeared and are now lost. appreciate any help at all all lost in the last 20 minutes. after a long hard day at work and sitting here for an hour typing to say I am pissed off big time is an understatement. am now splitting before my fist goes through the screen. mel-o-fury....... |

Mel Unless you have Broadband, this situation can occur. I doubt it is anything to do with our software, you have probably just been timed out. Regardless, I'm sorry this has happened. For future reference. Type in a long post then "copy" it. If the post crashes you create another post and "paste" your item into the box. Ritchie taught me that one. David |

Mel, Sorry to hear of your misery. Yes, yes, learn the commands CTRL-C (copy) and its brethren CTRL-V (paste). |

Sorry to hear that, Mel. It has probably happened to all of us if our internet connection got disrupted momentarily or something. I assume you did try hitting the "back" key to see if your text was still there. I hope you can sort of recreate what you started. Larry has a good point, suggesting you "copy" your progress every few minutes while still typing. And if you lose your text, just paste what you had and continue typing. Or better yet: If you are planning on typing a long list or a long story with much detail, consider typing it in Microsoft Word before pasting it all in SDF. This way you can save your documentation on your own hard drive while sharing it with us at the same time. Mel, your information is too valuable to us for it to get lost so easily. |

Yes Mel Same stuff happened to me numerous times... Now I do like Uptight suggested... I type long posts in WORD then cut and paste in SD or on any other forum I participate... (and my connection is broadband with no cut offs... I think it's a problem with Windows itseld... I run on XP...) Wonder B |

I guess if you're writing a long post you could draft it out in Word or notepad first, then paste it in |
