1300 Arbor View, Ann Arbor

Ollie McLaughlin recorded so many fantastic sides within the City of Detroit that it would be criminal to keep his premises off the tour.

This was the address for his Karen, Carla and Moira record labels and who knows who may have auditioned in the basement to the right of the garage.

Deon Jackson, for example, came from Ann Arbor (which is about 25 miles west of downtown Detroit). Ollie launched Deon's career in 1962 with a couple of songs which sold well locally. Many classic recordings were made in the mid sixties, however, which sound just as fresh today.

Ollie was also responsible for some superb records by the Capitols and Barbara Lewis.

Interestingly, this home home has always been based in a predominantly white area.
