Bobby, it's from Columbus, Ohio - it's the B-side of "Walk On Judge" (Holiday 150) - the single was picked up for national distribution by Bell and reissued as Bell 758 (02/69). It managed to get a UK release on Pama PM788 - sublicensed to Pama from EMI who held the UK rights but didn't want to issue it themselves. There's a follow up on Bell 792 "Boo Boo" / "Spread" (05/69) but no other records that I can think of. Maybe you're thinking of the old New York based Holiday label that was mainly doowop - it has that look about it. The Soul Partners record's much later - I'd estimare '67 / '68. There may be some link to Bill Moss, a gospel singer who had a few secular soul releases like "Sock It To 'Em, Soul Brother", also on Bell - Moss later turned up on Westbound but I think he was always based in Ohio. If you keep scrolling back through the forum index you should come to a thread headed something like "Ohio soul records" where I posted a link to Dante Carfagna's website - there may be more info. there. Ignore that 67-68 estimated date - I typed that before the first paragraph. The Holiday issue is probably from late '68 - Bell were always quick off the mark in picking up records that looked likely to become, at least, local hits. Davie |

Moss definitely was based in Ohio...Columbus, to be exact. He was one of the people behind the Capsoul label, which I mentioned in a previous thread was the subject of a new CD. Best, Mark |
