I received an e-mail from Mike. He is coming back to the forum as soon as he receives his code. Many here are familiar with Mike. Mike is a very unique individual who has a wealth of information and experinces to share with you. My opinion regarding Mike's contribution to Motown's success is this: Without the effort and talent of Mike McLean, the Motown Sound would more than likely have been something quite different then what we would become familiar with. Welcome back Mike. Come on soon.

Hi Ralph, this is good news, and you are right Motown's sound quality made a step up after Mike came to Hitsville in January 1961 and got better and better, and I have said this a few times before on this forum, you only have to listen and compare records to hear the difference.
welcome back Mike McLean.

Great news! We need his expertise on what went on in Detroit Soul back in the '60s, as well as all that valuable knowledge of recording methods. And those stories from that time are nice to have, too.

And Mike's inimitable style of expression will certainly add zest to the proceedings here. It will be good to have him on board again.
Ralph,
Do you have any contact with Deke Richards. His postings, also from an insider's perspective, were phenomenal- so honest and revealing!

PJ,
I'm not sure what happened to Deke. He was very active on the forum for a brief time and then disappeared. I e-mailed him but never heard back.
Re: Mike: I sent him his access code this morning so we should see him here soon. You're absolutely right, by the way. Mike most certainly adds zest to the forum.

Mike - we have missed you! I nearly bought Danse Macabre yesterday and thought about you. The shop has gone into receivership and was closed. We ordered it off the internet instead. I am waiting till the clock strikes twelve and hopefully you will be here on the forum again.

Mike, you know and respect well crafted items.

Well---I,ve got a case of well crafted Sierra Navada Pale Ale with your name and mine written all over it!!!

I really enjoy your comments on just about everything.

A lot of times in the past, your comments remind me of one of my favorite authors,Hunter Thomson.

I also hope Mike's well. He moved to Asheville, NC last year. Asheville got hit pretty bad by Hurricane Ivan. Major flooding.
