I had the pleasure of meeting Sharon Paige last evening at the 70s Soul Jam. Very sweet person, with vocals better than ever! She got a standing O after her songs at both shows. It was a great show. I'm not sure who's an original and who's not in any of these groups. So I don't wanna be making any judgment calls on it. Outside of the Supremes, Tempts, LaBelle, and a small handful of other groups, I don't know the individual members. |

Hi Linda, There are no original Bluenotes in that lineup, although they are faithful to the original sound and legacy of the group. was the show in Rochester? |

The show was at the New York State Fair in Syracuse. There were two shows and both were packed. It was a free show, included with fair admission (as opposed to the grandstand where the big ticket groups perform -- generally country or rock). Last week, it was Mary's Supremes and Dennis' Tempts at this same stage. The Blue Notes' sound was ON and they did a great job. Everybody did. I think in the Stylistics there are two original members, perhaps one in the Intruders, and of course, Cuba Sr was there with the Main Ingredient. The groups AND their musicians were all sooooo good. I had a chance to talk a bit with Sharon. It's unfortunate she never released anything on her own, as she is a great singer. She told me she recorded an LP that was never released for a variety of reasons. |

The Intruders performed on a Summer Soul show at the Mansion in Voorhees, South Jersey last night. They were excellent and featured lead singer Bobby Starr who recorded and sang with the original group during the "Soul Train" TV show era. Also performing were RnB / Jazz recording artrist Ms. Marilyn Marshall, Soul legend Billy Paul, and the Soul Survivors. All the acts were good and the show was tight. |

Go figure ... the Intruders were in Syracuse also ... I don't believe any were originals. They even had a bus with "Intruders" on it and also "Little Sonny," "Big Sonny," and "Bird" written under the name. Somebody did remark that the bus was REALLY pushing it, especially considering that none were from the original group. (I can sure see why this stuff upsets the original artists!! |
